Any plans for a 1.3 rollback mod?

Since the latest major weapons update and husk release(like 5 months ago) i felt like the game got way to easy, i can EBR pwn everything no matter what the distance, FP, scrake and husks arent a problem on any of the core maps. :eek:

So i for one would love to see a rollback mod:D, back to when the katana and the Ak were just released, IMO the game was the most balance then and had a great feel of grit to it. Now the game is littered with overpowered weapons, any of whom i can just obliterate the opposition with.:eek: I havent played in 4 months basically because the xbow was insanely over powered, and i am a sniper/assault rifle guy, i can finish any game with the xbow, and it default for my class. Just too simple. I used to love beserker class, now i feel its useless. I commend TWI for trying to improve the game, but IMO this was a step back.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE release a Rollback mod, i love the off centered hit boxes, and decap on the FPs. It was so great. Aww the good ol days, back when this game prime time. back to mw2 until next update

Nah, I agree that those problems exist, but I think adding new stuff is a better way to fix them than just roll back... new harder specimens, new mechanics, new weapons (and probably higher prices).

i think it might be worth waiting to see the upshot of this so-called balance patch ppl are talking about .

but that asides, (and at a risk of reapaeting myself..) i think a restrictive/realism mutator would be a good idea, particularly as ppl say they need more of a challange (so i expect i will in the future too)

class limit - 1 of each perk
removal of damage multipliers and clip size adjustments for perks - leaving ablities like flame/bomb resistance, reduced recoil/faster reloading
Changes to the healing system, i dunno like phaps where only med can heal others, with everyone else only self healing.
FF on.
Weapon limits for example only demo can buy pipebombs. Or even reduce numbers carried by increasing slot size or having each one take inventry space each - same could go for grenades.
Certain weapons could have their slot size increased, for example katana and M14.
Also certain weapons, particularly the new ones, could be made unavailable until later waves. Or indeed removed altogether.


these are just examples of ideas, obviously the community could brainstorm and filter out things that wouldnt work.
All this would not be too much work for people with coding ability, and i'm sure TWi would help out if approached.
The game is already hard, i think theres no point moaning on to tripwire that the game isn't how you'd like it - you've gotta be proactive.

I'm not even necessarily championing these suggestion myself, they are just examples of things that can increase the challange that a lot of ppl here claim they crave, and there's no reason why things like this can't be done.
Most importantly, as every thing is a restriction of some type there would be no reason for such a mutator to be blacklisted.

I will always prefer the pre-heavy metal Killing Floor to any other version. It was tough, it was fun, and it didn't get boring. A skilled level 0 with sufficient ammo could take down the whole first 5 waves, and a noob level 5 could die easily. The game didnt pull gay **** where it despawns and respawns zeds right freaking behind you. That's not challenging or scary, that's just lame.

This. ****ing idiots that take around 12 EBR rounds to kill a crawler just annoy the tits off of me...
Though to be fair, men aren't supposed to have tits anyway...

why use semi auto when single shot is just a click away? commandos should be up with the support gunning down the hordes, not far in the back pretending to be a sniper.

he's asking for a rollback mod, not a forced rollback to the previous version

Do ppl play the Kf mod anymore?
After all , theres a lot of requests for changes - things back to the way they were, increased difficulty, balancing and the like - however no-one seems willing or able to do it.

theyre not talking about KF mod, theyre talking about KF retail when it was first released.

yeah. my follow up query was an aside and I realised it shouldn't have been associated with this issue but i couldn't be arsed to edit and besides I'm at work and got distracted.

And, tbh, thinking about it the issues raised don't bother me anyway-
I mean for example the OP is asking for the m14 to be removed cos he can cane everything with it, well i simply never use it so i guess i've managed to fix this problem myself.
Additionally I'm not one to think others should be made to play the way i do either, and consequently don't get upset when they don't.

In the past I've joined in the 'lets make the game tougher' threads with a few ideas but like i say, no-one seems interested in having a go at it.
Still wondering how many ppl play the mod though.

i wouldn't want everything back the way it used to be because alot of things have been improved (corrected hitboxes, no more katana windmills, better hit detection, bug fixes, etc....) i would like to see some things reverted back like the chainsaw for example......restore it to it's former glory! i think the challenge needs to come back. with everything that was added and some balance issues that resulted from that content, i personally just don't feel that challenge anymore whenever i play with a good group of players. not that KF still isn't fun, it's just not as fun as it used to be. regardless the game just needs some sort of update i mean it's been almost 6 months :(

I don't miss the infinite kiting, the screwed up hitboxes or the ability to decap a FP with the knife. I do, however, miss the pants-soiling terror when you saw a Scrake as Commando with only the bullpup (or even AK) and when beating the Patriarch actually felt like an accomplishment. Now you're lucky to get a shot on him before he gets decimated by pipe bombs.

So yes, I'd be in favor of a rollback mutator minus the bugs that used to exist.
