Hey Guys,

I purchased this game last night and I've been enjoying it quite a bit. Unfortunately as being rather new it's been a bit rough. Even though I tend to die and wonder how and were the shooter was I'm really enjoying it and it is easily one of the most intense fps I've played. I have a few dumb questions, any responses would be fantastic!

1. Sometimes when I first join a game that I know has players it says there is zero people on each team.. It doesn't allow me to really choose a side and I can't see classes or much of anything. After a while it comes up and says there is people on the teams and I can play. Is this because my pc is still loading the game? Is this normal? Also I can hear gun fire and people with mics while I'm in this state of limbo.

2. Whats the difference in the soviet's bolt action rifles? I know the difference between the real guns but do they have any different affect? Like I mean between the mosin and the mosin carbine, is the normal mosin more accurate?

3. And finally why doesn't anybody play Mare Nostrum? I went on today and the severs were completely empty.. One said 15/16 so i joined but it was just bots. One other fellow joined but left shortly.

Thanks I hope these questions weren't asked too many times before!

Mare Nostrum is pretty dead, but you can still find players in the fight nights announced on MN's official Steam group

Hi Petesamd,

#1 sounds, maybe, like you joined a game when the reinforcements were at zero.. then a new round starts and you are then able to play. If you happen to join a team that has 0% reinforcements, then you won't spawn into the match until the new round/map starts.

#2 as far as I know from using the different Russian rifles, the only difference is the bayo. One of them doesnt accept a bayo, the other has a bayo permanently attached, and the standard mosin accepts a bayo and you can take it off as well. The accuracy is the same for all of them as far as I can tell. I can hit targets at all ranges just the same with each different rifle.

#3, well, Mare Nostrum died pretty much straight away. It struggled to hold any real consistent population and in my opinion this was because of the lack of maps at the initial release. Also, Carpathian Crosses and Darkest Hour released in the same time frame.

Welcome to RO! Sometimes strange things happen, like you described, sometimes other things, like "OMG no hit detection!", "OMG that guy HAX!". RO is by most definitions an "old game", it has it's quirks, but we love it. So, just take it for what it is (still feel free to ask questions or for help) and play on! There are other threads about "new player tips" etc, if you want to check em out. TWB*SlowBull

I'm a relatively late comer to RO ( or any FPS game for that matter ), and started playing since Dec 09'. I will continue to play this in MP for upto a year or so before getting a newer rig to play RO2.

When playing Steam I go under the name of JoMac. Generally, Half the time I play at WTF AradRealForest5 and other half at Danzig servers.

JoMac, Welcome to RO! Broaden your horizons, come try some other servers, there is a much larger range of maps/play styles than on just those two servers. TWB*SlowBull
