The detail on the player models is amazing, if you look closely you will see that each class has the correct ammo pouches. The faces are amazing too.

They havent implemented bump mapping becuase the ammount of time it takes to implement is huge and the player takes an FPS hit. Honestly bump mapping wouldnt add much to the game. The new looks for weapons etc. are a huge step forward, but the animations are positively revolutionary.

Visuals are nice, but ROO is about gameplay. If it can be more immersive by spending time on something other than bumpmapping then so much the better.

PS There are bullet hit decals :).

Welcome to the forums btw.

I am new to RO, but a long time WWII and FPS fan so I had to check this out. I concur with most of the compliments about this vid mentioned. Gore was appreciated to bring the stakes home a bit more. But the animation and detail of the first person tanking was the stand out for me. At last one seems to get a feel for being IN a tank. Buttoned up they are like iron coffins : visibility greatly restricted. However I am not wetting my pants in anticipation just yet. There are a few things which concern me.. - I saw NO bullet marks/decals on walls where they were hit by small arms fire. I hope this is IN at release. - The player models seemed poor by today's standards - low texture detail, low poly, no bump mapping etc. Germans looked almost identical to original MOHAA IMO. - Recoil animation looked poor from third person perspective. All recoil seems absorbed in the arms, which bounce like little jachammers (with auto weapons). But zero (?) kick to upper and rest of the body, so the guys look too much like puppets. What say you? After buying DOD:S recently, I don't think I shall be rushing out to get RO without a demo (b/c DOD:S was a letdown for me).

Can you provide an example of a game that does it better? I'd love to play it.

BTW, what's the flash thingy which you can see at 1 minute 21 seconds?

Well, that's a russian tank that is firing on those germans, so... :)

Don't forget to thank all the "little people"

The little people are the ones who had to repeatedly sacrifice their lives in the name of the trailer:D

I didn't know it would come to this, guys....

Congratulations on making, what looks to be, the best World War 2 game so far.

[sarcasm:]
Everything looks a bit smoother than MoH, the vehicles are slightly better implemented than in battlefield, the realism is a tad higher than in CoD and the graphics will most likely be bad enough to run on my machine.
But OMG! W3rez teh bu/\/\pmaps? Unrealengine 3 (<- only spelled in a normal way because the word is copy+pasted from a gamesite) sh0uld h4ve teh bumpmaps!!11 I go back to CS:S which fe4tures bumpmaps!!11
[/sarcasm]

That trailer is so fucking awsome!!! Judging by the trailer the graphics rock. Judging by the devs posts it will run my pc. What more can I ask for? Oh, yeah: Speed things up lazy devs! I want to play the game!!11oneeinsoneeins

There is always a tendency to remember old favorites through "rose colored glasses." But the reality is usually much less than what you remember. It is kind of like the ex girlfriend that you see years after you broke up. You remembered her being really attractive, but when you see her again you wonder how you ever went out with her :)

Case in point:

MOHAA German:

RO : Ostfront German

I rest my case :)

Yes you can. (I never use full auto except when clearing a room or a trench). Semi auto all the way
