Hmm, if it speeds up load times - I'm using it - and btw well done Tripwire on the new patch! :D

EDIT: I'm a dumbass. I need to learn to read.
OOOO .ncf files. They have a nice ring.

So, the files from the GCF are basically extracted and the game runs from the extracted files through the ncf files? This doubles the space required =S. So, what previously only requires 2+ GB is now 4+GB =\. I guess this is good, but, in the future, will it still be necessary to keep the GCF files intact if we already the files extracted?

Okay - I've added the command and done everything (let it extracted). I've opened up the game to play, and it's trying to download the maps. It currently has no maps. YAY

I am impressed. I have the usual manual tweaks as well as the optimizations made by the dev team, this beta improvement, and 2 GB of RAM helps too. I loaded up a map (the first map you load always takes the longest) and I was in the server in about ten seconds, if not eight or nine if you want to be exact. Switching map to map takes around this instant amount of time too.

Thank you dev team!

That and the game starts up much faster, you don't linger on that picture on desktop for long. Haven't encountered any bugs as of yet as a result of the new filesystem, only tradeoff as of now was the HDD space as I mentionned before.

Making love with his ego
Definitely faster starting up, and tonight I had a game on Rakowice where I was the 4th or 5th guy in after the mapchange, instead of like the 10th or so. No problems yet with the beta filesystem over here.

Thanks for the patch Tee-Dub

I'm trying the beta filesystem, and everything seems to be going well until I get to the 'My Games' tab in my Steam account. It looks as though I dont even have RO installed... it says 0%. But then I login to the same Steam account using the normal non-beta filesystem shortcut, and the game is there 100%.

Is that how it's supposed to look at first login using the new command line? RO ....0%?

It might, It needs to install RO to a new location.

I came across a bug with this. I'm guessing the conditions that it occurs in are rare but I thought I'd mentioned it. Was running the beta fs (works nicely btw for loading times) and my cpu did it's "I'm too hot" thing and rebooted. (My fault for not turning the AC on and your fault for making a game where I run it hours straight. ;))

Anyway, my PC rebooted and the next time I started RO it was as if I had just done a fresh install. I got the EULA pop-up, my name was ROPlayer, my video settings were defaults etc. Since no one has mentioned this I'm guessing I got it because of the hard reboot but I thought I would mention it. Wish I would have backed up my ini like I was told too. :p

I'll try it when I come home, my loading times are around 40 secs so not that slow, but faster is always appreciated.

Thanks for the close community support TW

Just a note: if you are running out of HD space, you can delete the GCF files now, so long as you keep the NCFs. Be careful though, as I very much doubt that the files will be repacked if you leave the beta.

Good question.

I thought the game would remove the .gcf files after extracting?
