First off, I would like to welcome all the new members to our growing forum. We here at Tripwire look forward to your contributions to our community in the future.
Now, to the rest of you. My first act as President of Tripwire will be to kill the whole lot of you, and burn your forums to cinders... (not really)! It has come to our attention that our forums have gone from a place of open discussion to being seen as a place where new comers aren't welcome and are treated by some with frank hostility. From this point on, this will stop, and here is what I plan to do about it.
1) The moderators will be instructed to close threads on subjects already being discussed with a link to the thread already in progress. This has occasionally been a failing on their part. It will be addressed immediately. However keep in mind that our moderators are very busy and may not have time to post more than that in any given thread. If you have a question for them please open a dialog with them via PM.
2) We at Tripwire are very open in our communications with our community and I have no plans to change this. However what will change is our stance on non constructive criticism. We will treat the community and the members thereof with respect. The failure of members of the community to do the same will result in their forum account access being temporarily or permanently suspended. The use of our forums is a privilege and not a right. If you have any questions about a rule or the future content of a post, once again please feel free to ask a moderator for their input.
3) The Rules. Read them... again. We have rules that cover just about everything. Not knowing them is not an excuse.
4) In regard to the third point, I will be instructing the moderators to take a more heavy hand on community regulars and long timers that mistreat new users. Your role if you wish to assume it, is to guide, discuss their points, and constructively criticize the new users, not bash them. If you don't feel you can take on that role, do not interact with them.
Now to be clear, not all of our members are behaving this way. In fact, the majority of you are just fine and I would like to thank you for your continued input on our forums. However, it never hurts to remember why we are all here. We like video games. Our opinions on them will all be different and we might never see eye to eye on issues, but we can be civil about it. If you see a trouble making user, the correct response is to inform a moderator in IRC or use the report post functionality of these forums.
Thank you for your time and happy gaming to all (except you Bobdog).
