Hmm usually stories like that end with the fugitive managing to escape his town/country and find safety in a distant place. Now why this guy, after all those he has probably seen and losing his brother still wants to get involved in the war and even more so in a frontline unit escapes me...

But it's quite an amazing story nevertheless.

Searching for survivors.
I don't even think you are capable of understanding why he is badass. You seem like a pretty ignorant person the way you judge him as a sheep because he wants to fight alongside the soldiers who he considers family to him. Did you even read the article? He had free will to choose his path, he chose to be with the only brothers he has left.

He showed bravery and I respect that... But his story is unfortunate... New Jersey is really starting to look militaristic :(

The whole articel reads in fact, like a propaganda pamphlet. And it has nothing to do with the protagonist of the story, but rather with how it was written.

And Vintage, you misunderstood blacklabel. "Sonny" isn't the sheep, sonny's the one herding the sheep to the slaughter. As in: that article aimes to make people join the army, NOT to tell an authentic story of a guide/refugee turned soldier.

Wow, really?
