Ammo backpack

Not sure if this exact idea has been proposed before, but here it is:

A buyable ammo backpack that takes up a certain amount of space in your inventory (say, 2-3 slots) and gives all your weapons a 10-20% increase in ammo capacity.

Thoughts?
I can see this being very useful but wouldn't this actually get funny with the perks giving extra ammo - conflict? I think it's a good idea but it will need some changes to it. More ammo = more weight, so maybe able to upgrade the amount of ammo gained?

I had an idea of having a way of a "weapon" of you "dropping" an ammo box down. Something I am to create soon :)

I say start with one bag, 20% increase and an extra nade. You can always roll it down.

I'm guessing this is a counter to the lack of weapon stay? And really only for HoE games where you are likely to run out of ammo? But then, I was struggling to just refill my sharpie ammo pool last HoE game. An extra 10%/20% would clear you out on games. XD

Maybe if you walk over an existing ammo pack (ground spawn) while your ammo is full, you pick it up (icon attaches to your belt) and carry it around. Then if someone who needs ammo bumps into you, it's as if they picked up the ammo box. And if you use up enough ammo to need the box, you automatically use it (a full mag or whatever the ammo box would normally give you, excluding pipebombs/grenades).

This would keep the ammo ground spawns from vanishing between rounds, and also look funny with people carrying around big green fanny-packs.

I always thought that a deployable ammo stash like in Payday: The Heist (limited uses) would be awesome.

Maybe each pickup could count as two ammo boxes, and each player can have one pickup from it per wave.

... you made me think. what if there was a gametype. that gave you a certain amount of ammo each round. (like 50%) instead of buying ammo. then you have to be tactical about your ammo usage. and maybe aim bit more before shooting. or use the 9mm alot more :)

I really like this idea. If it gave a few more kg, plus X% increase ammo carried. You can buy one backpack

(I don't understand why people think buying more backpacks makes any sense at all)
Spoiler!

Sometimes I play support just for the added weight he can carry so it would be kinda cool to carry more weight as other classes if you pay for it

I might be crashing the party a little here, but isn't the available ammunition for each weapon a key balancing point for numerous weapons? The primary goal being that players need to be conservative and stick to their roles to get the best yield out of the weapons, rather than just spamming shots at anything that moves.

The key example being a Support Specialist since he would not even blink at an extra 3 weight blocks, and he'd recieve 30% extra on both his weapons for his natural perk bonus, and then 10% or whatever on top of that. Plus it would be an absolute given for Firebugs, since 95% of my fellow Firebugs cannot seem to resist holding their fire button for at least a second a go and whine when they run out of ammo.

I dunno, it's an idea that has promise if the ammo balance was altered accordingly, but as a verment believer that players should be conservative with their ammo, and deliberately target only those specimens their perk is intended to tackle, it sounds to me kind of akin to weapon stacking. On paper I just can't shake the feeling it encourages a more spammy style of play...

Once again, this isn't going to be implemented by TWI into the vanilla KF.
This is something that will be for modded servers, in fact I am going to try to make a perk just for this, runs around, gets ammo pickups, and carries them in backpack to ppl who need it.

I'd never say No to a mutator, Mutators are awesome.

I only say it just in case TWI do happen to read it and think "Thats a good idea, I'm glad I thought of it!". :D

maybe pouches instead? or ammo belts? :D

maybe do this: ammo belt, grenade belt, etc?

Yeah I have to agree. amount of ammo is a big part of the ballance.

but it just to make it expensive enough? support on one hand might not get enough money, if he want to buy nades and maybe 3 weapons. and same goes for demo. more nades? or pipes? my opinion, I would always spam some pipes instead of ekstra ammo for the m32.
