I had a fun game on biotics last night.

I started the game as sharpie. Finished wave 1, switched to support, finished wave 2. Then a lvl 6 sharpie named topherrrrrrrr joined. I gave him all of my money and he bought a m14.

Wave 3 started. If a new player joins, I usually just provide cover so the new players can get their kills and cash. I've generally got my loadout by then so there isn't any reason to kill everything then give money away. Toperrrrrrrr was HS slow. USe the m14 laser, line up every single shot, apparently take a breath, then shoot. Every time. I was burning through a ton of ammo by "clear the corridor" shooting. After barely making it through 3, and having a tough time in 4, I typed "dude, you have to shoot faster."

"I've been playing this game longer than you."
I reply "I don't think so"
"I've beaten this map 50 times"
I reply "A whole 5 times. wow"

He was also doing a lot of rookie mistakes. Wave 3 he played next to the elevator. and I mean at the very end of the corridor. Wave 4 he played up by the door on the left. No clue about visually spawn blocking.

After barely making it through 4 and him doing the same thing in 5, I asked "First time playing biotics?" He replied "no, i've been playing this a lot longer than you have. About this point, I would let a player die. Hey, if a player wants to play next to a spawn point, or at some spot where mobs come around a corner solely because that player wants to maximize his kills (and hold the rest of the team hostage to keeping him alive) I'll let him die. Usually all it takes is not kill the 2 gorefasts that walk up behind him. But a new player, or two, had joined and I'm not going to teach a lessons when other players are present.

Wave 6 went by fine, as far as I can remember, and here comes 7. At that point we had 2 sharpies, 2 medics (?), 1 support, and some other perk. The first 5 perks are lvl 6.

We get rushed by a couple scrakes and a few other mobs. One player drops, and I back up into the corridor on the left. A scrake is following me. I backup behind the two medics and they back up as well. I type "medic pull the scrake" Remember both medics are next to me. Scrake rushes and I unload with the aa12. It isn't enough and I drop.

One guy types "don't we have a sharpie?" I reply "2."

Then something or other rushes and the team drops. One guy says "We need to do that again."

Then topherrrrrr goes "I confess that. That was me. I tanked it on purpose to screw with the team."

Lovely. Yeah, everyone left the server after that.

Now, check this death out.

I was playing biotics today as well and it was wave 2 or 3. I think the team had 3 or 4 players. A few specimens were left and the trader was the very bottom one. The team took off and I ran into the door down the hall on the left. I had the hunty out and was thinking "The only think that I have to worry about is a bloat around the door." I turn the corner and sure enough, a bloat is right there.

I back up a little and do the double hunty shot. He explodes and I instantly die from full health no armor. WTF just happened? The only thing I can figure is I double shot him, but didn't kill him and the bloat spit on me. Then a split second later a guy behind me shot him and I got another attack of bile. Then green death.

Ugh, had a horrible experience and had to share it here.

I hop into matches where one of my maps is playing so I can see how they play out. So I see sunnyland playing normal and hop in as lvl 5 medic with 4 others lvl 0-4 random perks. They play like low levels usually do, scattering about like fleas, not doing anything perk related. But that's fine, that's besides the point, the point is they were doing this and all started wiping very quickly towards the last 20 or so zeds.

There was that fight or flight moment I knew we were all dying so I bolted and sure enough behind me they all ran different directions and wiped, leaving 1 scrake, 1 siren and a handful of minions with just me alive. I make it about 50 feet and one of them starts calling me a "fagget" for running, I think the lvl 3. I replied I wanted us to survive and he snaps back "stop ****ing typing and play". At this point I'm leading the scrake and taking 9mm shots at the small critters while finding ammo to survive the scrake with a weak medic gun.

At some point the siren starts screaming and hurting me and one of the players with a mic starts yelling in his mic "SIREEAEEEAEEEAAEEEAANNN" making it VERY difficult to see/hear what was happening. I killed them all off after about 45 seconds and that's when they got really pissed at me. They started doing the come up and knifing thing and saying I think I'm a badass sarcastically. Meanwhile I switch to support and generally ignore them. Two rounds later I save the whole team from wiping again shooting up from last in kills to top in kills and healing them while the medic runs around with no purpose besides healing himself. (I healed the medic about a dozen times with NO return heals)

Second to last round whole team is welding back door not letting anything in. A few zeds trickle in from the other door so I run out there only to be welded out. I blast the door open with a nade and one of them says in a really f**kin know it all tone "Now THAT was stupid!" The whole team wanted to weld the only to entrances and sit in there because they were scared to do anything. A while later a teammate runs by me and says "Hey badass why don't you run down that hallway there's a scrake there..." Just sarcasm left and right. It finished with just me and the one guy that kept his mouth shut alive killing the pat in a blaze of glory. I never tried to start any attitude with them, I just wanted to blend in and see how the map plays, it played fine but they were complete knobs, cept for the quiet one.

This one was rather amuzing. We were on aperture waiting for pat in this room after a first fight. Some people didn't have armor so I stayed on the red button as a kevlar spawned in the room (same place as the ammo box in the picture). What do they do ? Nothing. I type in the chat "hey take the kevlar", one guy comes and tries to jump over the edge to pick it up without realizing that the door is open. We fight pat again, I repeat after he goes to heal himself, and two people try to grab the kevlar again by jumping over the edge. They killed pat eventually in the end, but they still didn't get the armor :D

I just had the longest losing streak I've ever experienced in a while...

I swear all my words fall upon deaf ears 90% of the time. I try explaining to people simple specimen mechanics and what to do with what perk they're playing. So here is the break down.

1 Sharp - Full on cowboy mode, only duals and no attempt to aim for the head.
1 Firebug - Hell bent on setting ALL the things on fire. I tried to advise him that scrakes doing the "I'm on fire dance" at mach 10 makes them very difficult to deal with.
1 Commando - I swear this guy has ADD or something. My simple request to him was to glance every now and then at a particular spawn to make sure no crawlers end up biting our ankles.
1 Demo - This guy must have been raised as a WWII Japanese Kamakazi, I swear he found some way to blow himself up every wave.
2 Supports - Me and one other. Other support had no clue in the world how to take on scrakes or fleshpounds. He ran back and hid with everybody else when one appeared. I swear I got all but one scrake kill consecutively in all 4 games and I got all the fleshpounds.

Almost every one of the four games played out in a similar fashion.

Demo blew himself up every wave, we always ended up with some crawlers at our legs and I was getting most all of the kills. Once we reached wave 6, nothing changed. However through every game I was able to carry them up until wave 9 or 10 where we ultimately met our doom. As soon as something like a scrake or fleshpound would appear everybody would run back with their thumbs up their butt and not do a single thing about the trash around the big stuff. This lead to me emptying my entire CSG on trash before I could even deal with the scrakes and fleshpounds.

I tried, I really did. But there is only so much one person can do and we always ended up getting overwhelmed because the bottleneck (me) just couldn't do everything alone. I don't know why I didn't leave them earlier. gg try-hard pubs.

oq93s4.png

To you pubs out there - just some tiny things to take note on.

1) Don't set scrakes | Fleshpounds on fire unless they're tearing your face off
2) If somebody proclaims they will take X specimen, do your best to clear other things around that specimen so they can be dealt with.
3) Do not run from scrakes once they rage on you. You take more damage and you make them harder to hit and yourself harder to heal.
4) Do not rage a scrake unless you're going to take it on. Always remember - A scrake isn't a problem until you make it one.
5) Communicate - if somebody asks or says something, at least some game voice chat acknowledgement is nice.

Is it ok to speak about a custom server fail? I'll just go anyhow.

It started not too long after this post (about half an hour or so) when playing on a crazy-filled server with Shivers, Brutes, and crap. I managed to jump in on the server at wave 6 to see 3 people playing in KF-Office, in the bottom level, scrunched in the corner, just blasting crap and developing their own tunnel vision syndrome. So silly me, I jumped in as a Sharpshooter, and focused on just grabbing every pistol the server had to offer, no duals, and went to town (sadly, the idiot who developed the server made the Clots and Gorefasts to wear Combine Soldier Skins, making their heads impossible to hit but instead you have to shoot at the neckpoint to get a headshot. Gorefast heads are even smaller so it was a pain).

We made it through somewhat, scoring headshots after awhile as "Pistolero", even scoring some on scrakes as they rushed down the stairways at the very back of the building. At Wave 10, everything was falling apart, 2 of them ragequit in the middle of the round after being slaughtered like idiots (one guy sat there with an AA12 as a Scrake ran up to him, raged, while he had no armor, and caught himself unprepared, the other died by trying to go Rambo at the front when Bloats dropped in with Sirens...not smart), but me and Reznads made it.

Patty Wave, the patty was named the Rapetriarch (literally >_>), and of course has health beyond the hundreds of thousands vs. us two, a Pistolero-nut of a low level Sharpie, and a average level of some Colonial Marine crap. I bought a Medicbot (a little bot that heals) and a Sentry bot (shootz stuff) to buy me time and asked him where should we go...his suggestion?

"same plc"
1314029819767.png

Yeah, let's go scurry down in the cramped, narrow corner while a giant, gorilla-looking Patriarch with a Minigun-Rocket Launcher platform comes at us through the other side! What could possibly go wrong?!

Obviously it didn't end well, especially for Reznad. My Sentry bot? Wiped out in seconds as the Patty came by and slapped it into oblivion with one hit. Reznad? He went gung-ho on him before being slapped up the stairs, turning into red paste by his minigun attacks. Me? I got the hell out of there as soon as I saw my sentry bot destroyed, going "NOPE NOPE NOPE" all the way up the stairs while the idiot was shooting at him instead of going somewhere he can dodge the Patty's hits. Then soon, the Patty was nearly right on me, giving him headshots-a-plenty with my pistols, the medic bot acting like a shield till I got slapped to hell twice.

You think that was it huh? Wrong. Turns out Reznad got all butthurt about losing to a large-nearly indestructible boss, taking his anger out on me. "Being a Sharpshooter in a small area with small group=unwise" Which then began the argument of a lifetime, me trying to explain to him that even if we were in an open area, or I picked the right close-quarters guy, I would still get creamed because of my low level quality, and not some god-like being who achieved the maximum level the server provided, and that I asked why would I even bother? "More exp, it's logic" me: no it's not logic, that's plain stupidity, you ask me to do the impossible for 1 Headshot kill."

He kept crying about how I should've been something else, stating it's impossible for SS to do close-quarter maps, when I've actually seen it done before, just not with Shivers, Brutes, and custom crap. He tells me "let's go on another map, you solo, you will die early" and just keeps spamming that like an idiot, I told him the truth that he's ignorant if he expects a SS to handle Brutes on his own and custom monsters and left.

Lvl 3 firebug laughs at a few Lvl 6 playing on a "normal" difficulty.

He's corrected and told he accidentally had joined a "suicidal" server. <filter failure>

Refusing to admit fault he makes a few more snide remarks.

WAVE TWO begins; firebug gets ambushed by a heard of gorefasts and killed.

Laughter ensues.

Player shamefully disconnects.

~the end~

I think I just pee'd a bit from laughing so hard... lol.

I got puked on at about the same time I hit the ground, and died instantly (full health no armor as well).

To make matters worse, I was the last player alive and it was the last zed, on wave 1.

You won't believe this.

HoE game, biotics lab, wave 10

I'm playing support and the other guy is a firebug. We've got thousands in cash and completely set up. He's got husk cannon and dual flare pistols. I've got mk23, hsg-1, m79, and aa12.

Wave 10 starts and a few clots meander out of the left door up the corridor. Then an FP, scrake, another FP, and a siren. Siren takes out the pipebombs. He one shots a scrake and recharges the cannon. I throw a couple grenades and let loose with the aa12. We kill everything but lose some armor. He's set up in the middle of the corridor and I'm sliding side to side at the back of the corridor. Since I'm playing support he's not really a problem being in front. Now, armor has spawned at the far end of the front corridor and it is still there.

I say "get armor" and let loose with the aa12 to clear the corridor. He runs to get the armor. I follow and throw grenades to keep anything from rolling out from the far right side. He gets the armor then an explosion and BOOM! I'm dead. Nutterbutter has blown himself up. WTF? There was nothing in the corridor AT ALL to block my grenades. When the camera comes back I can see exactly what happened.

When the other player ran up to get the armor, followed so I could toss grenades to cover the blind corridor to the right. Keep in mind, I simply ran up 15 to 20 feet and threw 5 or 6 grenades. In the few short seconds that I ran farther into the corridor, I broke visual spawn block. In those few seconds, TWO HUSKS spawned behind me and they shot me from the back and detonated the grenades.

Yup.

I really should learn that lesson. Them pubs just will not listen, no matter how much they fail.

Oh I believe it. Karma Husk strikes again.

Karma Husk went rampant in this game I recorded on my server.

I once watched a Zerker try to do the FP strategy

Hit> Go up to him> Dodge his attack rinse and repeat

The Zerker gave the FP a hug then died

This is hilarious. Try to help someone before he's kicked, well... You'll see

I love the autokick of low level chars.

Today playing on hoe pub. I gave advise to one player, and the whole team got angry and tried to weld me out of trader. I was able to slip through because one zed was still alive and the door had to be opened (I was outside the door with the zed).

Auto kick under Level 6? That's ridiculous. I've seen plenty of Level 5 people play HoE just fine. Auto kick for low level is now even more useless since it won't keep the testmap grinding retards out, but it will keep genuinely experienced people out.

This is coming from a guy who was kicked from Hard and Suicidal games a lot just because I reset my perks once. I was Level 3 Support, and did better than the two Level 6 Zerker retards who pull out the Knife against a raging Scrake.

While I agree that the auto kick is a blunt instrument, I like it. Can't do a think about grinders on leveling maps so may as well ignore those. As for your example, which scenario is more prevalent? Scores of low level players trying to join HoE servers or the occasional player with all lvl 6 perks that reset his levels?

Thought this one was pretty funny today. Wasn't an intentional team kill, non friendly fire server, just happened to knock me from 3rd floor on Foundry to 2nd floor when I had around 20 HP

met some real "pros" lately:
got into a kiting game and went medic. had a katana. fp spawns, a zerker starts kiting but then stops and just runs for no reason. so i decided to go on kiting. game paused, admin says "don't touch fps as medic". i reply that a medic can kite fps just as fine and noone was at the fp at that time.
...and suddenly i was banned :D

well, probably should have thought of something like that on a server called "****in noob server".
