Live action Akira, eh? I'm interested....

I'm a big fan of Ghost in the Shell and Akira, but the best anime I've ever seen is Last Exile. It's an epic story set in a sci-fi steampunk world with excellent characters, amazing production design, and a world all its own.

If you like:

• WWII-style dogfights and awesome flight scenes.
• Intense (airborne) ship-of-the-line battles between nations.
• A powerful revenge tale.
• Well-rounded characters that grow with the story.
• A classic struggle of underdog good vs. an all-powerful and sadistic evil.
• Many humorous moments to compliment the drama and action.
• A fully realized world that is well-executed.

To me, it represents what the Star Prequel Trilogy could have made of itself but failed to achieve on every level.
