Not to sound like a douche.. But I build Aks and collect them. The rifle looks like a quasi Romanian made rifle that was actually fielded by them.

Here is a photo as proof. These have the lower front handguard "dongs" and underfolding stocks.

Also, that "Ak-9" link that someone posted is not an ak-9, it's just some red neck made shorty. You can tell because the thing uses a stupid SAW grip and has SCREWS, not rivets on the receiver. And overall it looks like a redneck build.

the casings its spitting out are definitely 7.62x39 NOT 7.62x54r.

yeah, have you noticed how skinny they are? nobody said they were 7.62X54, but if you look at the wiki link im about to add to this, you will see that x39 rounds are much fatter and shorter then those ingame, either way its a small nitpick.
ugh.. good pics hard to find, still looking, either way what im saying is that it looks like they just took the brass that the bullpup ejects, and put those on the AK.

from left to right: 7.62x54R, 7.62x39, 5.45x39, 7.62x51, 5.56x45, 5.8x42, 6.8x43 Rem SPC, 6.5x38 Grendel, earlier versions of LSAT caseless and LSAT plastic-cased.
(bullpup fires 5.56x45, ak should be firing the 7.62x39, if the weapon were an ak74 it would be firing the 5.45x39)

Short version of AK is not AKM. AKM is the mass produced slightly modified version of the ak-47 that became used by almost every force that picked up arms (for free thanks to Russia shipping them to everybody). The AK ingame is an AK-47 shorty, but not an SU smg variant.

Yoshiro posted that on the second page of the official announcement of the heavy metal pack release in the news and announcements section.

So.... yea, that's what variation of the gun it is, you can all stop wondering/arguing.

The KF AK appears to use the Polish Tantal sidefolder stock:

On an AK pistol configuration:

Not really inaccurate considering the amount of AK variants and custom builds out there.

I think it looks pretty cool.

I fail to grasp the importance of this argument. Just call it AK. Avtomat Kustomizokova.

My real gripe with the thing is that the folding stock looks like a damn coat hanger someone duct taped on (that's why it doesn't actually fold :p). Oh and my in-game weapon description in the trader menu says it has a 2x sight... excuse me? What 2x sight? I feel ripped off :(

You beat me to it.

The Stock is a romanian wire folder.(There are Polish, Romanian, and E. German wire folders.)

The barrel looks weird, because the frontsight has been pulled back and used as a gas block.

It most definitely is an AK47 in 7.62x39. If you want to be technical and say, "ZOMFG tard it's an AKM.". Then I'll be technical and say, "ZOMFG TARD! IT has a designation that I can't recall.". I'm really tempted to say that it's an AIMR, but I'm not sure...

they made it a shorty without foldable stock because its a close quarter combat weapon in KF. You dont fight at long range.

I'm a huge Ak-47 fan and though I like the fact I can finally use an Ak-47 in this game, it kinda bothers me the way it looks.

I don't mind that the stock is not folded out completely but I really dislike the fact that the muzzle/barrel of the AK-47 is rather stubby.

It kinda reminds me of an AK-74Su

You guys are all wrong. That's definitely MP44. It's a common mistake to confuse MP44 for an AK47.

The reason that the barrel is shorter than an AK in real life or in another military game, is presumably because it's intended for a more claustrophobic style of combat. These Zeds intend to get close to you and intend to not sit miles away where they can get shot easily; soldiers and other intelligent humanlike enemies tend to do what you do, sit far away and fire from a distance, making a longer barrel all the more useful for that situation.
Basically, with Zeds moving closer and closer to you, a shorter barrel should surely gives you greater mobility during combat? Or at least, were this a real situation, it should.
Also, isn't an AK-47 variant still an AK-47? Just....a variant. Just like a Bowie Knife can be called a Knife, or Combat Knife and not exclusively a Bowie Knife (there are probably better, more appropriate comparisons, but that was the first thing that sprang to mind).

I suppose Killing Floor players will just have to get used to how little Tripwire Interactive know about guns.

A "magazine" is referred to as a "clip" in the game, for goodness' sake.

:(

Right....................................

Name any weapon in any Tripwire game and I bet you almost any dev in the studio has more trigger time on it then you do.

Most every weapon tripwire models these days is built with the modeler having access to the real weapon.

On the other hand all you have done is complained about one subject which is a hold over from when KF was a mod and is pretty much a non issue when the team has more important things to focus on. And I think this conversation has played itself out.
