airplanes?

the Battlefield 1942 side of me says yes, but realistically, it probably wouldn't be accurate...I believe there were some aircraft in the battle of Stalingrad, but the vast majority of it was pure infantry fighting
besides, there'd be too many gameplay changes to worry about, I'd rather have the team concentrating on perfecting infantry and tank warfare
Though if they did include aircraft, I would totally dig the feeling of hunkering down in some bushes trying not to be seen by a fighter or what have you...or manning a mobile 88mm and sending up an unpassable wall of FlaK shrapnel to stop a squadron of Yaks
balance would be hard though, German aircraft absolutely decimated their soviet counterparts

Based on your detailed, logical, and well thought out arguement you presented in your post, my opinion is...no. This isn't a flight simulator.
i could enjoy airplanes possibly, if the scale of rohos would be comparable to battleground europe.
Although personally i already always preferred the infantry only maps, rather than the combined arms/tank maps.

Considering that the Luftwaffe had air superiority for most of the Stalingrad battle, I think it would be pointless to try and include playable aircraft into the game. However, as German air bombardment played a major role in Stalingrad, I think that aircraft should play some part in the form of some kind of scripted event called in from the ground like artillery.
leave airplanes out of ro, it just wouldnt work for ro, and do we really have to visit the memories of noobs tking for the plane and camping in airfield until they can get a plane if at all?
