AI Hullgunner , What's the point ?

I`m quite unhappy with the whole tank situation as it is right now...the whole system of giving you AI crew members just doesn`t fit to the (enjoyable) rest of the game.

You are alone in a tank? Well ok so you will have to switch positions which will make the tank much less effective in its role.

You think its frustrating when you brought the tank to a good position and someone joins in just to drive the tank into doom? Give the crew members an option to communicate just like there is a comm options for squads if i get it right?

Of course i see the point of people being frustrated by random crew members...but imo that can`t be an excuse for having this ridiculous AI crew shooting the crap out of the enemy.

I really hope that the whole tanking system will be overhauled...it just doesn`t feel right as it is right now.

The point of AI hullgunner is to allow you to sit in front of enemy respawn point while you kill the few things that can kill you with the main gun.

Just make it like in ro1 and alot of other games if the gunner is alive you have to switch to the poss in order to use it. There you go fixing the imba ai problem and promoteing teamplay. OFC they should make it so that only the owner of the tank can move it / command it.

I have said it before but I would make the AI gunner only shoot at players close to the tank. If you want a real gunner you would leave the slot open to Humans. It's silly IMO that Tanks in RO2 gain no advantage of a Human crew. It's best to just lock it off an drive it yourself. In most games even more casual one's like Battlefield that's not the case. Someone has to man your gun MG turret or it doesn't work.

I prefer the system as it is now than in RO1. As for communication, I was under the impression that Squad-level VOIP does act like vehicle VOIP in this game. (which was broken for most of RO:Ost's life afaik).
Am I wrong about Squad VOIP?

Yes you do get the kills.

I know I get the kills, but what I want to know is does the commander likewise get credited with the deaths in his K/D ratio. I know K/D doesn't affect anything in the game, but it would be some small satisfaction that if I get credit for a Hull MG kill named for the human Commander, and that human Commander has been racking up Hull MG kills for himself, at least every crew member death will count against the commander too.

Keep the AI driver and the AI loader. The killing you need to do yourself, if you want the points for it.

Actually you are at disadvantage if you allow human crew. Human hull gunner is a good thing, but noob driver is what makes tanks so useless. Tank commander should at least be allowed to kick out the driver or shoot him in the head for disobeying an order.

p.s. Considering the superior optics of PzIV, its not far from bot even with human hull gunner. Fix tanks first then fix hull mg.

The bottom line is that they took something that was incredibly fun and balanced in RO1 and ruined it.

So much effort was put into realism that they forgot the most important part, whether or not it is fun to play as a tank and against tanks.

I for the life of me can't understand why they spent so much time modelling the inside of a tank, I just have to say wow at their prioritization.

Disable Hull MG for solo tankers

BAM! problem fixed

Having a human player with you in the tank should be an ADVANTAGE and not a HANDICAP. Tanking with your friends actually decreases your effectiveness since no human can aimbot as hard as the AI can

This is really a no brainer

This seems like the best solution in this thread to me

AI gunner must be heavily tweaked. It is way too accurate from long distances; it racks up kills for the tanker when he isn't even looking at the enemies... makes no sense and it is more like a hacker than a realistic feature.

I hate it, and I'm pretty sure most people do. Even when I'm using a tank I feel like cheating when my AI gunner mows down waves of infantry. It is not fair at all.
