What mod closed that thread? There's nothing bad about that one there's no sense in locking it without giving an answer. It's actually a legitimate question. Why in the hell am I watching advertisements for movies on a video game I payed for. I don't remember seeing any ads on L4D ... Another thing why are your ads always skipping, and glitchy? Just remove the whole thing (duh?)

The lack of ads in L4D might have something to do with the fact that Valve is a very large and very rich company. In comparison, Tripwire is absolutely minuscule and not nearly as affluent.

I'm not defending the ads (although they don't particularly bother me) but Valve and TWI are in two completely different ballparks. It's not fair to compare them.

they post ads so they get money more money = more updates/dlc

no but srsly, i dont mind that TWI advertises, just preferable not in our games that WE paid for, i didnt pay for advertisments, i payed for a fun and simply game. advertise with youtube or some other video hosting company.

we at least should get another update for these new advertisments

Regardless small companies have put up games before without ads. Also the main part is that half of these ads are for movies, what does that have to do with tripwire or ro or kf?
That aside it really wouldn't bother me much if the ad didn't skip and lag. It's more like having an annoying broken sound intro before you start killin'.

Edit -> Also I just re-checked all the rules here. And this post along with the original violates none of the rules therefor does not deserve being closed. Please explain yourselves. Are there new rules you haven't made us aware of?

So was the daybreakers ad any good? I am thinking of seeing that movie. For some reason all I get is the RO advert over and over again.

Me too, perhaps the ads are region-specific and here in the UK we only get RO.
The connection and hang on red screen problems all started when the update with the ads came in, I wonder if the hang is due to trying to connect to the ad server and is nothing to do with the actual game itself...

I mean, the ad is only 10 secs... I think it's more annoying when you can't skip the intro for some Valve games... Stupid red knob on peoples heads...

when this is locked, i'll bet the reason is spam seeing as there's been countless threads about this topic already, most of which have been locked or deleted. that should be the hint they don't want it discussed anymore.

this one is likely gone within the next 8 hours as well.

How is that different from the tripwire screen popping up on load? Every game has an intro page. And how does that make money for them? Just cause I see an ad doesnt mean i'm going to pay for what's advertised.

Also, daybreakers was alright. Wasn't what I had hoped for but wasn't terrible.

In all honesty though the lag bit is a little annoying, the ads don't really bother me. Whats been bothering me is these mods deleting posts and locking threads that aren't even in violation of their own rules. They are really taking this whole 'gardening' bit too far.

Ads are such a minor issue, guys. Really, do they bug you that much? Tripwire is simply a small company, and needs all the revenue it can get. I don't mind, after I've seen them a few times, I unconsciously block them out. It's not like they get in your way, or they prevent you from doing something.
