So, movie trailers in the lobby courtesy of Massive, Inc. Any Tripwire folk want to re-assure us of the intent here? (Beside the intent of making some cash from imbedded advertising)

I read the announcment, but I couldn't even find the lobby with movie trailers. xD I looked, I swear!

I like the Red Orchestra trailer. Sure it's an in-game advertisement, but as a multiplayer game, it doesn't just make money for the developers but increases the number of potential players to the game, something which RO could really benefit from right now.

when it comes to shameless money making, this is one of the ways i'm okay with. it's not like it forces you to watch it before each match or some bs like that

I thought it was a nice addition. And im all up for populating RO, and awesome game. When HoS comes along ill be more sad than happy because of all the memories left behind, not that im not looking forward to HoS, i dream about it all the time.

On this whole issue of in-gmae advertising...
The intention is very simple: the aim (working WITH Massive) is to find a good, non-obtrusive way to insert non-annoying advertising into the game. This will generate revenue that will go towards ensuring that future content packs remain FREE, just as the DLC character packs do. There is less choice about the in-game advertising, obviously, but it is intended to NOT affect game-play. If it doesn't work, we'll end up dropping it back out. But if it serves to generate more cash that we can plough back into the developement of new content - then it has served its purpose!

It's a great idea. But I find the sound on the ads to be quite obtrusive and annoying. This will be fine if the ads stay somewhat tripwire related. But I don't want to be getting ready to start a round only to be interrupted by someone telling me about the great taste of Coca Cola.

Hey, atleast I got something to look at while I'm waiting. It would've been nice if I could watch a movie while waiting too. That way people would wait a few minutes more.

Will these video ads always be silent? If they aren't, they'd be intruding with voice chat during the lobby.

I already heard some sounds on an ad for the Killing Floor character pack. Glad to see I'm not the only one frustrated by the sound.

I find this more then fair - I dont mind the ads at all - i would also recommend a little button for replay, because it kills the time till the slow players, get their perk and stuff.

If it's movies trailers, I'd love to see, but no crazy thing like two old dudes drink coca cola and jump from 14th floor down (kf-rl)
