(If TWI is already doing this and wants to give us a surprise, please delete this topic:))

Now we have random stationary machine-gun in some maps.

I hope more items can have a random position/direction, such as truck/box/road-block/resupply-site/door, so we can have a fresh experience in each round. Of course, the random is controlled by map-maker.

Furthermore, we can have random elements in a higher level, such as building/terrain/map-layout, so we can apply totally different tactics in each round. I know this need a lot of development (both programming and map-making), but maybe ten years later most FPS games will have this feature.

Problem is, the unreal engine 3 isn't the best thing in the world for this kind of stuff. Its meant for static hand-crafted environments for optimization purposes--at least to my understanding.

Bane's right on this, hate to break your bubble, but it isn't possible, not to mention the other intricacies when map making there is a lot of thought in small (and large) maps where positioning does matter. Not mention this would give any mapper or programmer a headache. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if some mappers didn't want it on their maps. The main issue is balance, and if you add this randomness to it, you can cause the entire structure of the map to collapse. I've discussed this with people, sure it does add more to the game, and each round, but it comes with a large cost.

I see, thanks for your reply.

I think the only and best way to do this would be a "orange" style map. Back in the day, the "orange" maps were using simple geometric shapes and dev orange textures for Day of defeat: Source. I would suppose, a map programmed to make semi random features for competition purposes would be cool
