I was in an empty server a day ago so I decided to do some accuracy tests. I discovered something odd. It seemed about 10% of the bullets I shot, from a stable, calm firing position would go completely off mark.

I was shooting a wall from about 15' away, shooting a horizontal line on the wall. After each shot I would pause to let my character regain composure.

In these pictures, the red dot was where I was aiming, and the resulting bullet hole is circled:

wow, nice observation, ive been feeling the same way about my bullets, even when my ironsights is on mark bullets seem to fly off way too far.

100m, why would I use anything else 15' away?

What would it matter anyway? The zero is unimportant, it's the grouping that looks way wrong. I haven't noticed this myself, so I'm going to have to test and see, but if that is happening that has to be a bug.

It matters because he's shooting at just under 5 meters, not 100 meters. And I what he said as shooting at a horizontal line and moving the aim slightly horizontally for each shot. Not sure if he was shooting at just the two red dot's or if the other shots on the line were where he was aiming.

Yeah the other dots were on target shots in that line.

The red dots show where the red circled hit should have landed.

Why wouldn't he recenter the crosshairs after shooting? Otherwise it would invalidate his results.

I'm going to test this as well, it would definately explain times where I've missed shots when I shouldn't have (headshots on stationary targets lined up for an eternity still miss etc).

I gotta be honest, I've been feeling like the weapons in this game are TOO accurate. This spread you're showing is surprising to say the least, as I had intended to add extra spread to the weapons. I'll definitely have to keep an eye out for this variable of weapon spread when I try to edit the scripts.

@PsYcH0_Ch!cKeN

What's the variable that's going to control spread?

Killing people around 150 ~ 200m with rifle is about right.

Hipfire is hard to do accuracy test with because of freeaim.

I am not sure if this is accurate, because you would expect at longer ranges for the bullets (assuming they are going down the path displayed in your screenshots), would deviate even more making long-distance shooting completely impossible.

Given that, zeroed in at 100m, if the target is still, he's a dead man usually. If the distribution in these screens is correct, then theoretically I shouldn't be able to hit a barn door at over 100m.

Yeah sure, I don't plan on overdoing it, but there should be some spread because of natural human error in alignment of the eye, shoulder, and two aiming sights on the weapon.

I've been trying to reproduce this today and 3 attempts on different servers didn't work.

Now i'm scratching my head. I need to reproduce it or everyone will think i'm crazy :p
