it's hell hard to find good ping realism servers with more than 2 players and 4 bots, the game seems pretty dead during the week.

Would be cool if all those that stopped playing ro2 went back to red orchestra ostfront to populate it once more, screw ro2 :)

Nobody is stopping you gasgas :) and abouth the bots, its a good thing that we have bots to fill the server.
Any way, we have no complaints of the server, not always full but always players on it.

I'm all about some free weekend action if the game has been ironed out a little more. With the bugs that are left, it might be more of a turn off. The UI needs more polish, spawntimes get stuck sometimes, glitchy animations getting stuck on the ground. None of them game breakers, by any means to me, but it might be to others.

As for player drops, FPS is the the big thing right now. Every FPS that comes out is going to have ridiculous initial sales. There's undoubtedly going to people that leave RO2 because it's not their cup of tea. Whether it be gameplay or technical issues.

Im Portuguese and I have no problems playing.
I play on British, German and Belgian servers a lot. As soon as I open the server browser I can easily join one of the many servers that have more than 40 players at any given time.

Of course this has nothing to do with the fact that 274,000 people are playing Skyrim. Nope Nothing at all.

All the nattering nabobs of negativity do is create their own self fulfilling prophecies of Doom. The game isn't broke for everybody.;)

This is and always will be a niche game.

I feel for the people who can't get it to run. Been there, done that with other games. TWI will get this smoothed out. Their past history gives me the confidence to say that. If you don't think they're as frustrated as you with alot of this... well I can't help ya with that. Critical thinking and common sense are like super powers in most forums.

Patience people...Good things will come.

Aside from the ranting, you do make half a point. :(

Gigs and gigs of patches, will have put people off.

Lots of crashing to desktop, will have put people off.

Stats up the wall, will have put some people off!

This lot combined with not one, but TWO of the biggest games following it mere weeks after, has obviously made a big impact on player numbers! it was inevitable...

I'm sure they have something planned for xmas, after all the hype has died down for the other games, the SDK is out, and they aren't killing themselves making patches! They can start to build on the player numbers that are there! I know a few people that would love this if only they could try it! Like I'm sure a lot do...

People seem to forget too, this was a very cheap game! Nearly half the price of cod! Yeah, it was borderline beta on release, but theres definately been worse! I'm getting on for 90 hours in now (including the beta) and have no complaints at all regards value for money!

Have a bit of patience, play with some russians! :D

the bugs dont break it for me as much as for others. i hate to say it but... part of the reason why Im playing less, isnt bug related, its because some of the maps are just very dull. And the problem is, those ones that are dull, seem to be the ones that folk want to keep playing over and over.

im all for sdk moving this game forward. but it wont be happening any time soon.

How will a free weekend make people who already own the game come back?
I mean I love your idea. I guess it will at least allow players to invite their friends to have another look at it.

I do know plenty of people who refuse to buy. Most are over 35s who are wise and wait for release comments before putting down cash. However this means they miss out on what is a really good game. I mean the things people are complaining about for the most part apart from genuine bugs are nit picks.

I have never played an FPS game with more atmospheric historical game levels. But we do need more of them and this will happen with time. The RO2 levels are so detailed and have so many places to explore. I am always finding new areas I have not been in.
I have never played an FPS with all the features that RO2 has. A lot will not even let you lean around corners this does.
I have not played a game that has made me feel like I was part of an epic battle like this game does. Its because everybody spawns at once and has the opportunity to attack as a functioning unit at that time. If they are organised.

The core game is great. Its up their with operation flashpoint for me as my favorite FPS of all time.
Problem is in the circles I travel in nobody will believe me because of RO2s now buggy reputation.

OH - Please release a manual Tripwire or community?

Gawd I wish you'd stop comparing RO2 to COD. I've heard of lots of complaints about BF3 as well. RO2 is unique I've been playing it since Sept 16 and I lived with the bugs. I've had way more bugs from any other FPS that I've bought, including any COD. I just hope TW can get the fan base back, our server is surviving with bots, but fills up with humans most of the time. TW needs another promo push or something.

Just wanted to say excellent post, and great job on the game. I still play it, and enjoy it. The people that are still playing it will be here for a while, and I've no doubts about the great future this game will have. Keep up the great work!

On a side note, I'm also playing Skyrim and BF3, so yes, it's quite true, many people don't just play one game.
