Hello. I am new to the forums and to the game. I am PC gamer. I am a big fan of military simulators from Bohemia Interactive since 2001 (ARMA: Cold war assault; ARMA 1; ARMA 2 and upcoming ARMA 3).
Normally I don't buy games, if you know what I mean, unless I really like it and want to support the developers. So I have played this game a bit at friends. And its really fun. I couldn't count this as a combat simulator, but a good team can make this a perfect tactical FPS. I like it because it's WWII, I can finally play as Wermacht in story mode, its violent, realistic, tanks, a lot of attention is paid to details and it has cool cover sytem.
So to the point. I want to ask a few questions:
1. How unique is multiplayer. Does the fun last long? Unlockables, mods?
2. Is there cut and uncut version? Because all I seen limbs going off but no blood.
3. Is there any way to buy boxed UNCUT version of this game with deluxe or somehow else install deluxe content in retail game?

The MP can vary wildly in how it plays out. Sometimes it can be very unique and tense. Other times it breaks down completely into a one-sided fight where few people coordinate and a lot of people run and gun. Games can either go as long as an hour or be as short as 5 minutes a round, depending on the players. Games as an MGer staying in the same position are totally different than games as Rifleman assaulting points.

There are plenty of unlocks and more modding potential than most games.

2. Is there cut and uncut version? Because all I seen limbs going off but no blood.
German versions are cut. There's also gore settings in the config and such.

Is there any way to buy boxed UNCUT version of this game with deluxe or somehow else install deluxe content in retail game?
Order it from a US distributor or someone else that doesn't have content restrictions. If you can live without a boxed copy, I think if someone in the US for example buys the game and gifts it to you, you get an uncut copy.

I don't think you can get the Digital Deluxe Edition perks through the boxed copy. Could be wrong though, I haven't looked at what's promised on the boxed copies here. I imagine that's only a Steam promotion though.

I'm not too clear on getting around the region restrictions because I've never had to. Plenty of people here have though so they'll know better.

Buy it you will like it

1:Its pretty unique 1 shot kills and realistic like arma its a niche game and will get a cult type following with time .The fun will last years! with custom maps and moded servers and u get 3 free games (soon) modded from the ro2 engine (rising sun,In country vietnam, iron Europe(ww1) and yes it has unlockables but nothing too OP you can be effective with the stock kits.

2: Probably the goriest tactical fps ever it has in game option that lets you control the gore.Watching limbs and heads fly adds to the realism for me .Depending on your region the US edition is what i have and all versions is uncut .

It takes some time and patients to learn the game and the maps but it works best with good team play.

When its all said and done and the sdk releases with custom maps and mods for the price its about the best value of any games out. And TWI supports their games for years giving free content and constantly improving their games.

It's fun.

Also, there will come mods and many more patches, new vehicles so even when you get bored for a moment, just wait for something new, so it's a good buy for a long time.

About boxed version, don't bother, it's just a box with a dvd inside, most you have to download via steam, unless you want to look at that box often, which I doubt.

a bit over the top but ya, basicly its a small map run and gun game. does that make it bad? well... a little but its still fun. just dont buy it excpecting realism.

It's not totally bad, but I am sure I will get sick of it in the short term. I have already "been there" and done that" with the COD games.

But trust me, I wouldn't have purchased it if I would have known it was going to be based on COD.

Take care.

It is a good fun game, and once people start making maps for it, then it will be super awesome. Then there will be the mods etc.

I am an arma player also, and whilst I do prefer arma, I think ro2 is good fun, if a little faster paced.

The sewers of Leningrad.
Amazing game minus the RO1 vets.

....... SO the original community is the bad part of the game??? I feel like an 16th-18th century Native American Chief right now. So probably about half the community could leave and it would be better for you? Just... just... I barely have words.

Thank you everyone. I will buy it. But the thing is I don't like steam. I always preferred Retail games over digital. Steam installs games in it's directory and I found RO2 cheaper on ebay. The only thing is DELUXE and those few guns with it.

The maps that are out now are pretty good, but u will get kinda tired of them after about 50-100 hours gametime. (at least i did)
Some are small, others are pretty big.

There will allways be "run and gun" players here, but they will learn that it dont help mutch. after they run around for 10hours and get killed they tent to figure out that advancing slow is better.
As they learn, new players find the game, and more of the same thing.
This helps us get free kills :p

Mods/maps and units will come over time. and lots of them!
Maby even a GORYER mod to, who knows.

As a Arma fan i must say that this game is great for faster action (as u dont have to drive out MHQs and stuff before a battle, but if u expect it to be a time machine back to stalingrad during ww2 u will be disapointed. Its still just a game.

That said, i love this game. and i will play it until i die, or until TWI makes RO3. it simply has everything i miss in other FPS games.

Thank you everyone. I will buy RO2. But the thing is I prefer Retail versions, because I don't like steam and how it handles and installs games. The only thing that pulls me back from buying retail is DELUXE edition (a few extra weapons and stuff). And I also found cheaper RO2 on ebay.

I would recommend it to anyone who can apreciate the Arma-series.
Besides arma my other absolute favourite series is the stalker games.
First times I played the prelaunch beta I was thinking of how it felt like a streamlined ww2 arma game. And wishing that Stalker2 will have the same feel in controls.
I am kind of burned out on online fps's but find myself enjoying RO2 on unpreceded levels. Starting to look forward to new maps but that's just natural. Spoiled baby wants more :D

Edit: Gore! Yes. Grenades and explosions have gruesome aftermaths. Blood is not over the top but I do find it neat that a puddle of blood flows out under fresh kills. Also whimpering, crying soldiers littering the battlefield. It is definetly more brutal than other games without going into the sphere of tasteless exploitation.
