A lone cabin in the mountains
Hello there forum-guys!

I came back here after a looong pause of KF, being reminded of it by the steam summer sales :D. Anyways, as soon as i got ingame i started to use my dearest support with an AA12...and it felt great

...so great.

Well anyway here's a thread to talk about the AA12, what's your opinion on it, what do you think the advantages/disadvantages are, etc. etc.

Also i'd like to thank TWI for bringing us one of the greatest games of all time :)

I personally, enjoy the semi-automatic setting for the AA12 killing the smaller zeds. The bigger ones, it's more of a time to use stuff like the hunty or pumpy (more damage per shot) with the help of people on the team.

@Faneca

Best way to flip out at a horde. Ever.

@C Gibby

Hmm i use the pumpy to soften up the bigger zeds then pop out the proverbial "rape-weapon" to finish them off in full auto. Also semi for the smaller zeds could eventually lead to wasting ammo if the team isn't really helping to take them out...

As a level 6 i enjoy using the regular pump shotgun for any small-medium sized zeds, and the AA12 for big enemies.

the only time i use AA12 for small zeds is when we are getting swamped, cornered, or we need some breathing room fast.

and yes AA12 always on fully auto XD

HoE, have to take the AA12+Hunting for Wave 6 onwards. Hunting for the neat groups, double barrell the big ones from there and empty some AA12-flavoured fury on their faces. This is all rather expensive though, so a little tight on money early on.

The money is issue is handily solved by first spawning as a level 6 sharpshooter and selling the crossbow during trader time.

You will end up with about 1000 pounds for the second wave

Best thing about the lv6 sharpie is that you can get a mega-cheap Handcannon for yourself if you plan to switch to zerkie, demo, or firebug. :IS2:

I miss the days when Lv5 sharpie gave you dual handcannons - I'd give them both to different people every time we spawned. I love sharing like that.

My opinion on the AA12 is that you should never ever use it over the Pump + Hunting if you are playing seriously. It is a lot of fun to use, but the Pump is better overall. More damage per shot, more pellets per shot, the ammo lasts longer, also who can forget about the massive price of the AA12. It would be much better for the team to give a good demo $1200 instead of buying a weapon often inferior to a $149(?) Pump shotgun.

Also I have noticed that increased damage and pellets tends to make it penetrate much better than the AA12 in every situation. Anyway yeah thats my opinion on the weapon.

I usually just use it for the smaller zeds and use the hunting shotty for the big ones, along with some help from the teammates, that is my view on it

Well i really didn't expect to find FPSrussia in here :D

Also, i wonder why two posts were almost identical :confused::rolleyes:

Well anyway, I've been playing a lot in a two to three man team, with the guys on skype, so we could afford anything, the money not being a problem.

Also when i save money and give it to another unknown guy, it usually dissapoints me when i see "X was killed by a clot"... and after he ragequits...oh well.

Still... mostly nothing in the game beats the awesomeness level of the AA12 ;) :IS2:

Generally the AA12 is a great gun for crowd control at least for weaker zed. For Skrakes on HoE what I tend to do is use the AA12 first, fire up to six times times depending on the difficulty/player count, then use the HS to the face and that takes it out. FP's, I usally let the SS and Demos take care of them. :p

I'm surprised by some of the opinions here - in my experience if any weapon is a HoE essential it's the AA12.
If you really wanna do a map, as a team we've found the first priority is to ensure supports are equipped with it - sure it's expensive but it's a long term investment as ammo is reasonable.
That way your supports can economically finish anything overrunning your commando(s), yet - assuming good ammo management - instantly fell anything big, even if your sharp(s) have missed.

The only issue becomes when a quick succession of big stuff arrives and the team is failing (sharps not making their hits to weaken/stun stuff, commandos distracted and allowing the crap to overwhelm you, supports caught mid reload or even out of ammo) - and in that case fair enough you should lose.

It's worth having at least 2 supps with AA's in a team i think, unloading into big stuff in turn.

I like the AA12. The only thing I would complain about is that it is bound to slot 4 together with the hunting shotgun. I would rather have it bound to slot 3 with the pump action since the hunting shotgun is THE must-have past wave 5 as support.
