I see all these ideas why are people so opposed to a WW1 Style mod? The game modes would have to be designed with defending and attacking in mind, but i think it could be extremely fun if well coordinated.

Don't worry, we will be focusing on the early stages of the war when combat was still fluid. Also I have seen little opposition to this mod.

Oh God I hope not. Combat is combat, don't screw it up by making it fluid and dynamic. That's for people who want to play twitch shooters.

I think he means that it will be the part of the war when you weren't just running 3 feet and getting mowed down. Fluidity in this case is relative, and since most of WWI was just taking turns running across no man's land and getting obliterated, this fluidity is probably not what you'd be thinking.

Of course, I'm not on the mod team, but from what I know of the mod and the war, that's what I'm guessing (as I'm pretty confident that sitting in a muddy trench dieing of disease with the option of running through a hail of near endless bullets is not going to get a lot of players)

We will have maps up to 1916 though, with one map about the first day on the Somme.

One thing most people don't realize is that frontal assaults did not always equal instant massacre. With smoke screens, sap trenches, box and creeping barrages, and evolving infantry tactics along with other things, the taking of the first enemy trench was often the least costly endeavor.

Another thing people forget is that we get to pick and choose what maps to make, and what scenarios we want to recreate. We choose ones that are tactically fitted to gameplay.
