The way I see it, the RNG system is the worst of it. The only way to make this work is to price keys very, very, very cheap. I don't see myself spending 1

Mixed feeling here..... I get that if TWI can have additional income, they can make more, better quality content and features in the future. This I can support. I'm also ok with buying bundles in paid DLC or Microtransactions as long as the price tags are reasonable. The idea of the Zed-conomy seems interesting. Being able to trade and or sell items you have found does not seem to be an issue in my book. TWI has also stated that nothing will be a game changer (P2W) and will be purely cosmetic. Still not seeing the problem. Lets not forget you can always sell or trade the items you find that you don't wish to keep them. That's basically giving you the chance to earn free money just by playing a video game you already enjoy. That or you can trade for something you do like. Again, I'm still not seeing a problem.

TWI has always been very discreet about the projects they have on the drawing board, disclosing only what they are ready and willing to release in the most vague way they can. That is their way of building hype, NOT them trying to be shady.

The only thing I don't like is the idea that you will most likely have to pay (suppliers market prices) for the really rare or really cool items, that is if you just have to have them. You purchasing items is clearly stated as completely optional.

At first when I read the opening to this thread that Yoshiro posted, I was upset. I was thinking the same as most of you. Here comes the cash grab. BUT the more I have read the more I see that this is not as big a deal as it is being made out to be.

If people are worried about this being implemented before this game is finished then you really have no idea of what the true purpose of Early Access really is. This kid of thing should be implemented prior to the game being finished to insure it is working properly. I can guaranty that if the game was finished, then TWI implemented this and it bugged the game out, everyone would be up in arms crying "its RO2 all over" or some BS like that until TWI was able to get a fix patch out. Plus you realize this means a MORE constant stream of content to the game right? This will also increase the life span of this game will it not?

I have more than one game on Steam that has been in EA longer than KF2 that are of far less quality and seem to be much further from completion than KF2 in its currant state. I still enjoy play those games as they are not broken, just not complete.

I will hold any solid judgment until this feature is in full effect and look forward to seeing how this feature is in person.

For the Dev's-
Will we be seeing the new update before the Christmas Break?

This is the best option, wait for the rabble to settle down. In both a good and bad aspect, we live in the age of ADHD-addled, Twitter Slacktivism, where controversies and scandals, both real and imagined, can be conjured and brought to a boiling point within seconds. The good part about that is, it's never long before the next moral outrage comes along, and those trendy malcontents instantly swing their aggression elsewhere, leaving the "issue" unresolved. TWI's best option is to simply ignore the anger rather than provoking it; yes, the steam reviews will go down a little due to a concentrated effort by a few salty jerkoffs, and yes a handful of particularly rump rustled customers will get their refunds (also known as a hollow victory), but it's part of society now.

I will wag my finger at TWI on their timing. This has already been said, over and over again, but I'm lining up with them. The timing of this announcement was nothing short of atrocious. Best strategy would have been to RELEASE the new content first, the new content everyone was looking forward to, then maybe a week (or two) later, while everyone is engrossed in their new toys, introduce the zedconomy. The gaming community would have received much less negatively than now. Rather than howling that TWI has sold out forever, the reaction would have been more of a "TWI is going the lawful evil route, but at least they're putting out content". This would have created the illusion of much more content coming out than what there really was. Not saying TWI isn't releasing adequate content, but it would have fooled quite a few to stagger the two releases.

Yes, I can see this point that maybe the time was a little off (pre-mature) and holding off until after the upcoming update was pushed. Then at least the majority was fixed with getting that Gunslinger up to lvl25. I do feel that this being introduced while in Early Access was the correct move on TWI's part though.

Until this feature is released I will reserve my feelings about this until I see what this Trading Floor and Zed-conomy is and how it works for myself.

Can't thank you enough for making this purely cosmetic. I can respect this kind of addition to help out the developers, considering it's entirely optional.

Considering "consumables to temporarily boost stats or perk experience gain", I'm definitely opposed to the former. Granted, I don't know how this kind of thing would be implemented, but stat boots, temporary or not, always leaves a sour taste in the back of my mouth.
The latter, however, doesn't sound too bad. As long as the experience boost isn't too significant, it would really help ease the slight grind of leveling.

Either way, I'm excited to see what else you guys churn up.

So, does this mean eventually we will get "Zed-Tracker" skins?

Kinda like the CS:GO Stat Track skins?

I wish I could show how much money we poor back into the business and how little we take out as a company. This is laying the groundwork for what will hopefully be years of free awesome content for the whole community much like we did with Killing Floor 1.

Will it be perfect coming out the door? I don't know, but it will probably need to be changed and tweaked. We are listening to players concerns and feedback already and we will be continuing to do so once players have their hands on the system.

Some sort of dungeon
My 2 cents its a bit early. It wouldve been fine at full release date as you were at the end of the war. Right now at least its not intrusive and is just for people to make content. Leave it at where it is and take it no further before people start hitting the presses with the "new scum of the gaming empire".

Yeah, I personally don't like the whole "rarity" side of things, but I understand (unlike alot of people) that you ARE a business and need to make money. Thank you for listening to the community and telling us in advance though :)

3. People getting mad over their failure to realize that different groups of a developer make different things is not the developer's fault. It's their own.
mate who are you anyway? i'm a lawyer and you call me a failure? don't make me laugh mate. i play kf2 when i have time (not a lot), so actually i don't care what happens with this game, but i feel kf2 developers should have pride in themselves to keep alive what killing floor makes special and stand out from other games

@Tenerbros

I have also requested a refund today, but I explained that I'd also be happy if they enabled me to gift it to someone else if that wasn't possible. I really don't want it on my Steam account anymore.

Did they mention any specific reason to decline your request? (You can also write me a PM so we don't spam the topic too much.)

This is within perimeters, but I do have some issues. Most that have already been mentioned already, but two concerns remain:

- Will we be expecting people to spam that they want to trade their items ingame (Like Tradechat in WoW for example)?

- Will there be a constant spamming about buying keys whenever a chest drops for you (During or after games)?

I personally wouldn't want to have the chat full of players trying to sell/trade their items, and I for one won't buy keys, so I would prefer to have Zero, 0, nada, none advertisments or pop-ups about buying keys for my chests, it would only disrupt gameplay and ruin the experience of the game.

I suggest that we will have to seek out to buy the keys, if we want to, instead of them being advertised in the game.

About the player spam thing, I believe it will happen, but I also hope players have the brain enough to only meantion it ONCE, otherwise I'd like to have a way to report/block players for constantly spamming. The report adding up until they get a chat ban for the game, or something.

Just my 2

This is my primary fear / misgiving about the whole situation. TWI needs to be VERY CAREFUL to implement the economy seamlessly with the game. In short, playing the game to WIN and BEAT THE BOSS should match up precisely with optimizing your chances with the economy. This means long games on hard / sui / hoe especially should be the optimal place to find some nice drops / crates, given you WIN the match, with time played taken into account as well. (Wave 9 /10 jumpers can jump in a lake now)

I totally agree, and I REALLY REALLY hope TW has given this aspect of the debate a lot of thought. The "game flow", "meta", whatever you want to call it, should in no way be impacted by these drops/crates. The #1 (and only) mission across all modes, difficulties, and maps should be to work with your team to achieve victory - this, and nothing else, should be incentivized. Because you can be sure that if there is any other game play pattern, even the slightest little gimmick that people can use to "optimize" their "loot runs", they will do so. And that will completely ruin this so-far fun game. Please play it very safely, TW :(

I hope we can expect the update before the 16th of December, what with there being a limited time sale on all community market items until then :p

I have a few questions I would like to ask about all this.

1: This idea of side grade weapons (your going to do more of them don't deny it)

Will Tripwire consider making these side weapons be non-class specific?
Such as no class gets stat bonuses with them?
Like speed bonuses, damage bonuses ETC.
But still allow players to earn EXP with them with the class they are playing (firebug killing zeds with zwei means firebug EXP)?
Would be a much better approach to this side grades idea rather then giving a weapon thats designed for a specific class.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
2: Does tripwire have a plan to take advantage of this crate system to help better gameplay experience for players in a CO-OP game setting? or are you making this up as you go?

There is an idea I heard about making a whole prestige system in game (set a class back to level 0 to earn a reward after they reach level 25) to get a crate/USB and players earn EXP much more efficiently when playing as a good teammate. of course the idea that was mentioned would need many different game changes like earning EXP at end of games rather then during them to prevent ragequitters and such (I feel this game will have a lot of ragequitters on PS4 because of long wait times after death they would rather find a new game to play) Also details about how all players get EXP deductions if team mates die to help encourage team mates to heal or prevent others from dying. I liked the idea and I think it has potential to better gameplay for everyone if they knew that good teamwork meant more EXP which means getting closer to prestige to get a reward of some kind. Of course there was also the idea to prevent players earning EXP who were level 0 trying to play on HOE servers to get EXP faster because zeds are worth more and such and ruining gameplay for others.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
3.You mentioned new classes. Will those have to be paid to play with along with the weapons designed for that class?

Closer than you would know.
Ugh. The amount of salt in this thread leaves really bad aftertaste.

I have following point on microtransactions:

If it does not affect gameplay in any way (I.E cosmetics) then I'm completely fine with it.

The bad reactions for this are due to a certain game which has gone a bit Overkill on the microtransactions idea.

If you are angry about more ways to support both the developer and the Community content creators then go ahead knock yourself out.
