a VIP Mod with a Tank

You might have played SWAT4 and its fun VIP mod..

Brief description :

The SWAT team must protect and take the VIP to the safety place...
The Terrorists must take the VIP Alive and keep him for 2minutes and then, kill him

I thought this mod could be a nice one for RO2, in other circumstances ..

For example, the russian team should try to take a half destroyed tank :IS2: to a safety place where it would be repaired... ( tank would follow a planned way and only the tank's turret machine gun would work )

The german team must destroy it before the russian tank reach the safe place !


I tried to find if anyone had already posted the idea.
It was not the case so i wanted to share it !

The idea is cool (for a modification or so) but personally I hope that we will have this tank attack/defend effect in any urban map that combines tanks with infantry, without need of this gametype.

So the tank provides infantry cover and fires at windows to get enemy mg positions while the infantry moves up with the tank (behind it or at the sides of the street) to protect it against enemy AT soldiers.

This also worked very well in RO1 sometimes, like on the Berlin map in Darkest Hour Mod.

If this was done, it shouldn't be the coax MG that works. The turret, main gun, turret ring should be damaged and the hull MG should be the one that works.

Makes more sense and is more realistic + makes tank only able to fire in front of tank, so inf have to do most of the work but tank can still kill anyone who tries to charge the tank head on with a grenade or satchel.

Actually, I like the idea. They could implement it in a mod but the 'thing with the tank' needs to be a whole lot different because something like that is a little ridiculous & unrealistic.

I actually like the idea of protecting a convoy of tanks or something similar as it goes through town. Would be a neat platform for a new objective-based gametype.

Technology in general was highly appreciated in Soviet Union, human lifes on the other hand were not, especially in war time. Like they said: "Even every idiot can make a human being, but not a tank." Allthough an anecdote, it pretty much sums up the value of the life of individual soldiers in Red Army.

On the other hand, it was not that exeptional consept of thought, really. In every army they valued war-tech over soldiers, since technology is more important and more expensive than lifes of soldiers. That

I always wanted a sort of

*tank crew required to get through area with infantry support without getting killed*

sort of map for RO. Would be great teamplay.

I would go for a mod or mutator gametype that focuses on defending a thing/person/object/vehicle.

My idea is that you should defend a convoy or damaged tanks and halftracks moving down a long road or street, with enemy forces coming across a river or through some buildings.

The defending team would consist of riflemen and assualt troopers and maybe a sniper, and their damaged convoy would be unable to fire, since they are damaged. They would have some in-complete fortifications on the sides of the road facing the enemy for cover.

The attacking team would consist of a sniper, 2-3 AT men, rifles, and assualts. The attacking team would have to guide and protect the AT troops to get them with-in a good firing range of the damaged convoy.

So say there are 10 tanks/halftracks the attacking team would need to kill 60-75% of the convoy to win.

Does anyone remember that one map in Company of Heroes where we had to protect a convoy through a road while the germans tried to ambush them? I think something like that could make a great game in RO2. We could have a map set in the Operation Winter Storm, with the russians trying to ambush Hoth's Panzer Army that tried to break the Stalingrad pocket, while the germans should protect the vehicles at any cost (in this case there could be Tigers, since they played a role in this operation).

Yeah, you posted when I was elaborating mine, but I saw yours later and it's basically the same thing :D
I don't like that VIP idea, but I think a convoy defence gametype would be awesome, though it looks like something very difficult to implement. Well, I hope TWI consider this and at least try implementing it either on release or in later updates.

Or modders can take it into their own hands, whichever works out.

The convoy should move slowly since they are damaged in the engines too >.>

But I definately think TWI should release some new game modes after the initial release along with more vehicles and stuff, not that I'm putting to much on their shoulders or anything I just think more gametypes would be nice >.>

Well you need to understand that we dont like rolled up
sleeves, because german soldiers didnt never rolled up
their sleeves. So its unrealistic.

And if we have allready spoke about sleeves, what you
think we think about scinetist or spyes. Scientist are in home front, and spyes are too in home front, on enemy
home front offcourse.

There is no such a persons in Stalingrad or war front,
who need a escort. If you are valuable and not able to
take care of youself. You are evacuated days before
enemy reache to that place.

But they are ideas only to see new gamemods somedays..
As i said, the first thing i would like to see is a the protection of a tank...
