This is something that has been grinding my gears for some time. I thought I would put it out there and maybe it will make at least someone think twice about it. This is not a tip for hardcore players but rather those at medium skill level.

When you don

Blocking isn't always helpful if you're a medic, seriously. It's not as bad as it used to be now that hand grenades don't collide with players anymore, but it can **** up a lot of strategies if your team doesn't know what you're planning.

But yeah, diverting or blocking can be the most helpful thing ever if you -know- that the fleshpound isn't gonna one hit KO you. For example, running behind it as a commando with full armor and unloading into his back, it's likely that he'll target you and run away from the demo to get gibbed by an m32.

You say that, but in tight corridors its the only thing that has saved the team in some games. Given the buggy nature of nades they hardly ever get used by most people, to do so is asking to die. Most definitely a situational thing.

As I nearly always crouch I very rarely block shots. (Unlike a lot of support players I know who constantly side step back and forth blocking every sods shot)

And there as been times I've turned my back on the FP to fire heals at wounded team mates. Right thing to do? Doesn't seem to stop us winning matchs, so I guess it's a moot point.

Note that medic shouldn't always take raged FP hits on himself. When there's a berserker with full health, he should take FP hit. Reason? He can be restored back to full health in seconds, and the precious medic's armor should be saved for those occasions when FP is coming after someone who won't be able to survive this hug.

One time I played with some jackass zerk that just charged at FP, raged him with continuous katana primary fire and then tried to flee. Several times. I did my best to heal him, but when he finally died, he was all like 'noob medic doesn't sponge fleshpounds'. Needless to say, next wave I just let the natural selection thing to go on him.

That's a good point you bring up, although my 'core' group that I often play with zerker is often the joke class, it's selected to mess about with. And should we be playing a pub server most zerkers run off somewhere (to then ***** about the medic when they've died even though they are on the other side of the map... that happens far to much.)

Common behavior on pub servers: your team sees FP, gets afraid and just runs away, so you need to handle it alone. After killing FP you turn around to see where the team was gone, but realize they got wiped by crawlers...

As an avid Medic player, whenever i see a poorly prepared team unload on an FP with no chance of killing it before it reaches us, it is my duty to just jump in front of it and stop the charge. This usually only happens on hard or bellow and as a lvl 6 medic it takes a while for it to actually kill me.

That said, its probably the worst strategy ever. Have a good zerker, SS or demo in your team.

You know what? When people see a rage fp, they run. When people see a raged scrake? They run.

For the fp case, his attack animation AND rage animation is LONG. So, SHOOT THAT SUCKER!!!! PLEASE!!!

As for sk... if you just press crtl, you can tank for like 5 second without armour... and... WHY AREN'T YOU SHOTTING?

90% of the time no one have to take damage.... or just take a tiny bit of it. Thing is, people just run, what are they hoping? They will die from a heart attack?
