In RO 3.3 you have
(1) hold "shift" and "W" together to sprint with upper body lowered
(2) hold "W" for slower movement in which your weapon is raised

If "shift" is taken out and instead stance cycles your movement speed (standing=sprint, crouched=walk) then the benefit is that you have one less button to worry about, but the cost is that whenever you move in crouched your character is going to rise up.

I prefer everything the way it is now. Not necessarily the key assignments since I usually change them anyway, but the options and number of things you can do.

Double tapping or clicking a key seems to me that it is open to too much user error.

Right now, I use almost every key that has to do with use/movement/combat although some I use rarely. To me, they all have a use. If you start taking them away, then it seems you are dumbing the game down in more of a consolish way.

Just my opinion...

Read again what I posted above.. I never asked for any double-tapping. If you played RO 3.3 you will know it is superior to RO:OST in terms of movement. If you can sprint with your head and chest lowered, what is the point of sprinting with your head sticking out? RO 3.3 gave one way to sprint and it was the correct way.

If you sprint when crouched in ROOST then you move more slowly than the standing sprint, which means you get less distance out of your stamina, and also means you make a slower target.

In real life, you can walk, jog, sprint, crouch walk, crouch sprint, etc. Making sprinting default is just an all around bad idea. ROOST got it right, in that you're defaulting to jogging with weapon raised, and if the situation calls for it, you can sprint, crouch, etc.

If I recall correctly, you didn't sprint with upper body lowered in RO 3.3, that came in RO:Ost, and only if you pressed crouch (or were crouched) while sprinting.

Or how about leave everything the ****ing way it is, jesus.
+1 internetz for this

and for added input, do we even need the 'walk' button? the only time i ever saw it used was when they made that RO music video for 'roads to stalingrad', in the real game everyone just crouched when they wanted to sneak, you moved at the same speed as a standing walk, you were just as quiet, AND you were a smaller target

I use walk occasionally, and I remember using it in the "Roads to Moscow" video as well. But mostly when I know when an enemy is in a building and I have to be quiet because I know I only have a bolt action rifle and have to be careful sneaking up on said individual.

AND you were a smaller target

And you also present your gun more easily behind corners compared to walking. Just compare walking animation to crouching animation. I've lost count how many times I knew someone was about to peek or come behind the corner because the gun was sticking out so well, either due clipping issues or past the door.

Walking is pretty rare sight, but I occasionally use it in certain corners where going crouched = sticking your gun while regular movement could give away your position (E.G. you just managed to sneak close to a bunker).

I would love to see some context sensitive stuff in ROHoS, like mentioned above. For example, mantling over objects with the same key as you for example open doors and what not.

But I would also like to see the control scheme be the same as in the previous game. The basics anyway.

Edit:

Only thing I always change, is the right mouse button to ironsights, and mouse button 3 to alternate fire ;)
