Mkb and other guns like it are much too accurate. It makes using the bolt action worthless.

At ranges around 100 meters - yes. That's why Assault rifle replaced bolt action rifles.

Firing at over 200 meters? Good luck hitting with anything besides MG's and bolts.

I agree, there are not really any firefights happening, pop up from cover, just "BOOM HEADSHOT" a guy 150 m away with only his head visible.

Exactly the same as RO1, except it was 100 meters away tops because you had to aim 2 pixel sized targets further than that.

Difference being in RO2 you got more chances, due to much more fluid movement.

Hello, over the last few days Ive started to notice something seriously lacking in RO2, namely firefights.

My question is when is the last time you remember being part of an long, intense firefight, where both sides were really letting rip on each other, trying to suppress and move etc, sort of like an actual battle?

In my opinion, I havent, ever. The reason being the ridiculous accuracy of nearly every weapon. As soon as a head appears it is blown off, especially by the terminator tank ai gunners, with the end result that the game has pretty much turned into camping or run and gun tactics, great.

Would it really be so hard for TWI to adjust the weapon accuracy? And surely this would be beneficial to all as the game may start to feel a bit more enjoyable?

Not only this but the speed at which one can get iron sights up and headshot you is insanity wolf. I can't count how many times I've been running, and spotted an enemy who proceeds to raise (sometimes not) his iron sights and blow me away before I've even had a chance to click my right mouse button.

Overall I'm enjoying the game quite a bit. But yes, RO1 was more rewarding in my opinion. It took more than just seeing someone to kill them. More than just beeing seen to be killed. Being spotted was just the first step of the death dance. The hunt and exchange of fire that followed was the best part. In RO2 being spotted is almost always certain instant death.

Ive had quite a few extended firefights with one single person where we would keep changing up cover and popping shots off until one finally outsmarts the other or places a grenade well :p

Try not popping your head out where they're expecting you to.

I don't think some of you know what a firefight is, because you all are bring up situations that you call a firefight, but it's really just you winning the firefight. I mean, a firefight is when two group shoot at each other for an extended period of time, if you're killing the other group and they're not killing you, then it's not much of a firefight, is it?

If you all really want to see firefights, watch some videos of BF3 with people playing on Caspian Border. In it, you'll see people taking shots at each other with neither side getting extreme degrees of success at wiping the other out, until armor, a helicopter, or a supa dupa snipa like me either takes out the other side, or forces them into cover so your side and move up and finish them off. Something makes me doubt this is what you all want.

To be blunt, you're not going to see actual firefights in RO2 unless TW makes player health unrealistic, or adds cone-of-fire to all the guns.

The accuracy of the weapons are fine, it's not like they aim themselves.
My longest single firefight against one enemy was probably around 1 minute long, on potapova square exchanging pot shots with bolties.

They do aim themselves, every time after you fire a shot the aim stabalizes to center screen, there is little to no need to adjust for the kick of the gun like in most arcade shooters. Auto fire instead of bursts is now easy while standing up and under any conditions.
This reduced the skill required to aim the gun thus making the game easier to master but changing the gameplay in a negative way in the progress.

They only have to copy paste the original RO shooting mechanics to fix all this nonsense  Plenty of firefights in RO/DH.

That about sums it all up:)

You make it sound like hitting a head size target at 150m should be difficult. It isn't really hard IRL if one has a supported position.

Almost every game I play, now, as long as both teams are paying attention. I've had epic last stand in the Propaganda House on Apartments, been in protracted machine gun duels in Spartanovka, held off an entire detachment of riflemen in Fallen Fighters as they crawled under my fire with my guys running up as much ammo as possible so I could keep firing.

You can't use the same tactics that worked in RO1. Guns are too accurate for that. You need to experiment, figure out how to stay alive, and figure out how to properly exchange fire. You can't rely on sway and shortsighted soldiers to protect you. The learning curve in RO2 doesn't come from learning how to shoot your weapon, it comes from learning how to stay alive longer. When you have two groups of folks who have good survivability going at it, the game turns into a bloody epic firefight.

+1

In RO2 every soldier is expert shooter most of the times.

The easiest shooting mechanic among serious tactical shooters (ARMA 2 PR, RO1, insurgency, america's army 3, rainbow six 1, rogue spear, rainbow six 3, rainbow six vegas 2, graw 1,2 pc)

Maybe you must change the servers you play on, this hole evening has been a bloody firefight for a lot of capture points... I was on B2K server.

Yeah, I shopped around for a while and settled on 2-3 servers I frequent. Constant, epic firefights as long as you can deal with getting steamrolled by the clanners working together every once in a while.
