First off, let me just say that this game is gorgeous. I can see the work put into the detail of the weapons, maps, everything. Lately, there has been a lot of those 'dead' threads going around, and while people do make good points, there are ways to 'revive' this game, at list a little bit.
TWI, you stated that you are still doing some bug crunching and optimization. Which is good, make the game playable for those who have low FPS. But I've been watching the steam community stats, and when RO2 first came out, I saw peaks of 12,000. Now, it's peaks of maybe 3,000? Even 1,500 some days. It's not hard to come to a conclusion that the game needs another kick start, cause the engine broke down a couple minutes after the race started.
I think if you combine some of these things, a lot of people will start playing, and enjoy it quite more:
-Once you finish the bug squashing fiesta, make sure the SDK is done. The SDK will both take away these 'balance' threads and all the complaints people have been making, AND give new maps for people to play. Some people are getting kind of tired with the stock maps, mix it up a bit by letting the community help, they can make new gamemodes, mutators, and maps for you!
-I think the once the two above things are cleared, have a free weekend along with a community map contest! This can show both the people who never heard of it, the people who heard bad things about it, and the people who 'want their money back' that this game still has a chance with it's SDK, beautiful graphics, and smooth gameplay that can be customized to anyones choosing, also it adds some nice community maps into the stock game!
-After this, you can keep working on adding tid bits of the free content you're working on! Like the two new tanks, and release the MP campaign. Less people shouldn't be harassing you guys for new maps, and gun balancing, so the game will just kind of roll out like KF did, but with bigger numbers, more fun, support from the company itself, and a nice (but vicious) community!
