...of each player.

Giving each rifleman 1-2 cartridges instead of the 9 in Ostfront. Or 1 drum for each SMG'er.

Making the pressure and importance of the low amount of ammo and gathering it from dead soldiers greater.

Maybe it would not be realistic, but since players can respawn contrary to real life, you can distribute the ammo respectively.

Given that some suppression effect is in the game, together with a great scarcity of ammo and a very limited amount of respawns (reinf), the team with the wiseliest ammo-orientated playstyle will win.

Blimey, that is even a real life aspect!

Along these lines I hope mappers are able to make maps with uneven teams. Limited ammo would fit in nicely with these scenarios.

I like this. I think that number of ammo clips was too high in Ostfront too.

+1 and suggest 35-round curved box magazines for PPSh-41, so player can use both types.

Or give the Machinegunner 2 or 6 drums (dependable on MG type) and the rest of his team 2 cartridges and/or 1 SMG drum. This emphasises the importance of suppressing fire from the MG barrel. Given that the respawns are very limited.

There is really potential in adding scantiness.

I made a thread awhile back considering the idea of reducing ammunition count, and allowing for ammo sharing of the same type between soldiers. Adds to tension, but also adds to teamplay. I like these suggestions.

I'm glad more souls have sympathy for this idea.

I think this is a fantastic idea, limiting ammo of soldiers would make the MG suppression a lot more useful, that and sharing ammo between soldiers would be awesome. There would be a lot less random SMG spraying out of iron-sights (I do too often). If I am <20 meters from someone in RO I just blast a SMG clip until a bullet clips them instead of taking a more tactical approach

Only 1 or 2 Spare Clips for Rifleman ? Seriously i usually spend more than that in one Life as a Rifleman on average. I mean 5 or 6 okay, but 1 ? Thats only 10 Bullets total.

That's the whole idea.

An ammo-limiting mutator is a great idea. Particularly when we have uneven teams, me and my friends will limit one team's ammo when we play airsoft. It gives a totally different playing style, and I think implementing it through the mutator interface would be a nice addition to the game.

Sounds like a good idea, especially as there will be these "one life" maps. Maybe one clip for rifleman is a bit overkill but along those lines anyways would be interesting.

I doubt 'hardcore' realism mode will actually make substantial gameplay changes like how much ammo you get, but IMO that's exactly the sort of thing it ought to do.

I agree with the suggestions that people should 'level up' quicker in hardcore mode, also.

Having 1 or 2 cartridges would be awesome, and seriously make you stop wasting rounds, and having to concentrate on shots you know will almost certainly hit a target.

I'm all for it, particularly as it means bayonet suicide runs to go find more ammo. :D
