My post was that I ask that people make an effort to speak to modder's before taking our work, changing it and then releasing a different version, in particular works in progress. Or pulling from a server and posting for people to download.
Very few mods don't infringe on intellectual property of some kind along the way. Nearly every gun mod and character mod is testament to that. M16, that's someone's IP, P90, IP too. I have also not tried to deny that as I say in my original post that modders learn by pulling apart existing works to see how it ticks. That in itself does no real harm and for the most part we do not attempt to make money or pass the original material as our own when we decide to take say a DeadSpace model or popular sidearm and release it as a package for people to play with. I say for the most part because there are members on these boards charging for mods, but I won't go into that here.
