A message from Sweet Bandits

Agents,

I come today with heartbreaking news that we must share with the entirety of the Deceive Inc. community. There is no easy way to say this: The Sweet Bandits team is no more. After a long and difficult road of trying to get Deceive inc. in a state where it could thrive, we have reached the breaking point for the studio, unable to continue this adventure with you.

While this is a moment of great sadness for us, we are happy to have been given the chance to create this universe and share it with you all. We were amazed by the passion of this community and this has been a driving force for us all along, pushing us to try and make this project reach the potential it has. We've put our heart and soul into this game and nothing makes us happier than seeing it resonate with other people across the world.

The path ahead is currently being charted by our partners at Tripwire Interactive. We are considering options, with the goal of maintaining the game that we all love. We will share news with everyone once we have more details. In the meantime, servers and game access will continue as they have been.

To close things off, I want to thank you all personally, not as Sweet Bandits, but as myself. I am so grateful for everything this community has done and I am deeply saddened that this is how it ends. Please keep the flame going, make Deceive Inc. yours, continue to share your art and stories. This is your universe now and forever.

With much love and a heavy heart,

Baribandit

I am not usually a PvP/battle royale type of player, but I was quickly hooked on Deceive, Inc. You created a great game; thank you for the many hours I enjoyed playing it. I'm saddened to hear this news but the passion and talent you brought to this project bodes well for each of you in your future endeavors.

Thank you so much for all the time and effort you have poured into this game. Deceive, Inc truly is a unique and fun concept that I have thoroughly enjoyed my time playing.

I know it's not an easy thing to pull off, but I would love to see the maintenance plan for the game include the open-source release of the server-side software so the community can continue to host their own servers. I, along with many others, would hate to see the game eventually die off because it doesn't make financial sense for Tripwire to continue to host first-party servers and matchmaking.

I made an account just to say how sad I am to hear this news. There is no other game like Decieve Inc. I played as long as I could with my two friends until we couldn't matchmake any more due to low playercount, otherwise we'd still be playing to this day.

I would come back every few weeks and check the playercount on steamdb hoping that we could play again... and I'm so sad the playercount never recovered.

You guys made an incredible game. Your studio deserved a better fate. I am so proud of how much hard work you guys put in until the end to give the game it's best chance to succeed.

It feels profoundly unfair that this game was not more popular than it was given how excellent and unique the title truly is. It is truly a masterpiece of game design.

I wish every member of the team the best of success in their future endeavours. From all of us who loved your game, you all deserved far better.

I really appreciate the work ya'll did on Deceive Inc, and the incredible array of ideas associated with the game. I just found out about this news and am greatly saddened. I've been a gamer for 35 years, and over the past 10 years it's been increasingly difficult to find truly unique, interesting and compelling games to get into. Ya'll achieved that and then some, which is something to be extremely proud of. I think the incredible community that built up around your game really shows how special it is, and how your passion as game developers really did translate to passion for players of your game. Today multiplayer shooters are increasingly hard to get off the ground, and despite that Deceive had a really solid run, because of just how unique and good of a game it is.

I would like to make one request of the developers and Tripwire before pulling full support from the game, and that is to create the ability to host local servers. I know this may not be easy, as I believe your infrastructure is AWS-based or another cloud provider, but I think it is important for the passionate community that ya'll have created. It would be a shame if one day the servers shut down and the game becomes completely inoperable, even if a group of friends want to jump in and play together after the servers shutdown. I can also provide a significant amount of help to do this, as I am very familiar with software that is probably close to your setup.

I made this account just because i wanted to say thank you very much to all of the devs and community managers for making this game as good as it has been so far. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it, even as much of a noob as i am.

I hope things go well for everyone on the team, and i hope this message reaches you in good health.

I truly thank you for the all work you've all done on this game, and wish you all better pastures ahead.
