I think this has already been suggested, not sure what the concensus was though.
If it's only for that round/life I like it.

Only for a round... and only on the tank canon !

Yes it has been already suggested, but i made a research and i couldnt find anything similar ! The other guy wanted first marks on guns, which i do not really want ..

A good idea if done right. I think the cannon markings should maybe be based off the most kills in one life from the entire playtime of the tank commander. So lets say you get 5 tank kills in a single life in one server, your tank's cannon will have 5 rings on it anytime you command another tank even in other servers/rounds.

To prevent the thing from getting ridiculous it could have an exponential difficulty to add more rings after a specific number(5 sounds reasonable to me but it can be whatever). So that to get 6 rings you actually need 9 kills, and for 7 rings you need 14 kills. The numbers can always be adjusted.

I would like to even see it taken further with bits of the actual tank changing as well, just like the soldiers' gear does as they level up. Have their paint be messed up with some mud, some chips on the side skirts, maybe paint missing from machine gun fire, extra gear on the back and sides like shovels or tracks, and some improvised camo on appropriate maps like some bushes. Maybe make the tank commander look different when out of the hatch too.

The hero system is designed so when you see some grizzled dude with an ear necklace(joke) you know he is good and you maybe feel a little better about having him around. When you see a friendly tank rolling past with a bunch of rings on his gun, some battle damage, and a ton of shrubs on his tank you can identify those tankers as someone you can rely on being good.

Killmarks (for the life of the tank) would be the best idea.

Or killmarks for the entire round (server side option)

I'd like it, but I can see it working best if it was for the round that you're playing. It's tied to the scoreboard that way. But really, I don't see it being particularly useful or needed in any way, but it would be cool to have just for what it is.

That would be a nice thing to have .

What would be a really useful marking to have is the turret number, no more " panzer IV just behind the green tree near the river, no not you" just "Nr.235".

Everyone having their own turret number would be just fantastic.

I disagree.
I still think it should be tied to the life of a tank, which under the new system means a one life killstreak (to use a cod type term)
After all, as you say a scoreboard will roughly tell your round total anyway - and there was no HoE when i suggested it - more for the all out tank maps where ppl can lose track of how many kills made per life.
thats why i wanted it per tank life - you are effectively a new tanker once you die - also jumping in and out of tanks would mess that system up if you changed your crew.(although this is of course moot under HoS)
regarding viewing it - you should i imagine be able to count the rings or symbols on the barrel from the sights - no problem.

+1:IS2:

A good thing would be to add "things" on the tank, to show your "level" (not sure if it is historicaly accurate, but I've ever seen some photos of such tanks) : as a rookie, you'll have a simple tank, and as soon as you play more, win some success, make kills, you'll unlock things to add on your tank (if you want), such as barrils, camo, tracks etc. only visual things, and one would be the cannon marking. It would add variety to those beasts. :D
