Hi there.

I've been talking with my mates in the ODIN clan about making a sound mod.
What we had in mind was replacing the infantry sounds with our own in our localized language.
This is of coerce is just for fun, for our selfs.

Bur we also discussed making something that could be enjoyed by the general public too.
This is more on the serious side, but with a little twist of humor to spice things up a little.

Another fun idea I'd like to try is to make a tiny mod we can use to challenge our sworn enemy since the Viking days.
The yellow belly Swedes :p
The German voice commands will be in Norwegian and the Russian in Swedish.
Perhaps put a few country flags on the uniforms and gear for good measure :D

A few questions if you don't mind.

Can we edit/replace the infantry.uax sounds without having to create a mutator?
Or will this be considered cheating.

Is there a tool I can use the extract the uax files.

How do I make a mutator. With the unreal editor or is it a tool by it self.

Well anything you can think of in regards to making a RO sound mod is helpful.

I've made a few sound mods before, mostly for Simracing games but I think I can handle that part ;)

The tool used to extract the .uax files would be the SDK which you can download off Steam.

You would not necessarily need to extract any files (which the sdk can do by exporting each individual command as a .wav) in order to know what all the commands are, though.

You can see what they are by using the voice comand menu - I think the tank commander has all available commands.

You would need some form of code to select your new sound packages, though - you could not just replace the commands .uax and expect your game to run on a server.

How that is done, I'm afraid I do not know. Ask a coder. If they can give you that info then I'll let you know how you create the various sound groups in your new package and also what kind of gear you should use for recording and post-processing (headset mics onto HD = not always very high quality, listen to some of the MN commands if you don't believe me - some sound great, some rather muffled and weak.)
