I assume you mean half loads and full loads when you're talking about "Hollywood Blanks" and more realistic ones. Anyways, there is a big difference between the muzzle flash of blanks and real ammo, as this video beautifully demonstrates.

YouTube - ‪Muzzle Flash. Real Rounds vs. Blanks‬‏

As you can see, a lot more unburned powder is thrown into the air from the blanks, causing a big fireball and much more light.

Although I've never shot my Mosin at night, I have seen it make fireballs about the same size with the same ammo used in that video...

Not to derail this, but it depends. Some blanks are loaded with different and often faster burning powder so that they can create the same pressure to cycle a semi / fully automatic gun.

Night time is good, but they are looking at getting more stages from the weapons other than just the flash :)

And since there is now a wall of posts, just to help out sort out my posts. These are my two previous posts with some freeze-framing for ease :)

Edit: I'm not really sure if I am submitting what you guys are looking for yet, but by far the best video is the russian documentary video. AMAZING slow-mo :)

Luger
http://youtu.be/T8C5Mjh4l54 - This man says that he just added the sound effects. You can't see the who muzzle flash, but it's a pretty good idea.
YouTube - ‪Luger 22 pistol filmed at 600fps slow motion‬‏ This one is also pretty okay.

Well, wasted another couple of hours looking this stuff up/trying to get screen caps. I really hope this is working and I'm not wasting my time :p

Does TW need any more? I can go on some more hunting sprees if you'd like.. or looking for any weapon in specific? I'm still not even sure if any of these other ones have helped

I think in general it would be nice to see the muzzle flash for weapons that have a muzzle break, as then the muzzle flashes seriously look different.

Like for instance the PTRS where the flash goes to the left, right and forward.

Or the PPSH where the flash goes left right up and forward.
Spoiler!

your eye isn't a camera. bottomline: those flashes you catch frame by frame will not be visible to the human eye. prolonged fire will create the illusion of a faint temporary fireball during daytime.

stop using photos-stills as evidence.

thanks.

Hey, I don't mean to so blatantly bump this topic, but does Tripwire still need help with this? I haven't really gotten any feedback with what I posted if it was helping or not. Or if I should continue. Of course if it is helping I'll keep looking.
