Its actually a problem with many people. Quite simply it doesn't make any sense. ROOST had missions with historical backstory and a set objective for each team, everytime. Countdown kind of messes that up. Like, imagine Konigsplatz, with the Soviets defending the Reichstag. Would be an immersion breaker for sure.
no it wouldn't, imagine an additional SS battalion trying to retake reichstag.

Ok I have been a big RO fan for years. I loved the game for its realism and focus on my heritage. What Just came out a few hours ago was NOT Red Orchestra!! Before I start I want you to know I was awaiting this game with an open mind and was not one of the many who feared change. I understand this is a beta and am not going to rant about the bugs as many as their are. I also in no way posted anything or bugged tripwire about putting the beta early i waited on there time. Now to start, in RO you have to manually cock the bolt this should not be optional. The Iron sight on the guns has a zoom on them i know you can turn them off but this option along with the auto cocking should not be there making the game easier for many. I can see my teammates names across the map, unlike when you actually had to have a good eye and spot diffident uniforms LIKE IN REAL LIFE. The voice acting ... I knew it was going to be in English and I was ok with that until i heard it. My avatar is cracking jokes to him self in the middle of a battle. The new weapon switching system is GOD AWFUL.And last but not least the radar i know it can be turned off but it should not even be there in the first place. I understand this is a beta but is that was a preview of what is to come in 2 weeks i am scared.

I for one agree with you brother, I have been playing RO1 since day one and this does not feel like it came from tripwire. It feels like they are trying to make the game more casual to appeal to a younger audience. Shame, id had such high hopes for this game

Keywork is imagine. The game is already its own virtual imagination. Breaking that up is like an unexplained plothole. AFAIK, there probably wasn't an additional SS batallion retaking it (dont quote me on taht though :D ) . Im sure you do understand my concern with the lack of backstory though?

Actually i would have preferred the switch sides to switch the player's faction. But you never know if a guy would appear and say: "why switch sides? i only play russian and now i'm german? *RAGE*"

And as some people said, there were places that exchanged hands quite often.

I am sure the Grain Elevator in Stalingrad changed hands on a number of occasions? As did the factory's around the city from time to time i assume.

This is what I personally would like. Actual faction switches. You are right though, places did switch sides. I just liked ROOST's backstory on each mission, which is MIA in RO:HOS

I haven't jumped into the beta yet.

But characters cracking jokes to themselves during combat? Don't like the sound of that.

If I was on a battlefield being shot at all day, I probably wouldn't really be cracking jokes. I dunno. But maybe this could be modded out in the future?

Other than that, my leg won't stop twitching while I'm watching the Beta download at 1.3MB/s, OooOoOOOoOoohhHHHHhHAaaaAaaahhHHHHHHHHHhhhHh!

I would join a realism server, but...
The server search is way too laggy and slow right now, so I just jump in to w/e server I see that is almost full.

Loved the game. The only issue I would like to see examined is the accuracy and damage of SMGs - seems like they could use some nerfing to keep rifles viable.

Remember, guys, it's a beta. The reason it was released is so the devs can make improvements!

It feels like they are trying to make the game more casual to appeal to a younger audience.

That's because this is precisely what they did. And don't get me wrong, i understand why, RO2 is on a much bigger budget, and thus, it also needs to sell more copies to make a profit, that's basic economics 101, and as such i have no objections to them including the arcade mode, Developers need to eat and pay bills too.

What i don't understand, however, is why they didn't also include a really-real Realism mode for all their realism fans. And no, the mode that is called "Realism" isen't that, it doesen't cut the mustard, but they easilly could include a 3'rd official mode for the realism nerds amongst us, and only stand to gain even more happy players doing so.

But they haven't been interested in doing that for whatever reason, and that doesen't make sense to me, because i think they would be selling more copies if they did, lots of the old RO guys would love such a thing, and as would players from franchises like the ArmA, WWIIOL and America's Army series, so why not bait a fishing hook for thouse players aswell?

What would you add to this 'real' realism mode? I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm curious.

Maybe they are afraid of splitting up the player base too much. How good would your real realism mode be if there are barely any players in it?
With the possibility of mods still it can get in there if some people devote enough time to it.

I've heard something that would fit quite well here: Everyone reacts in a different way to a pressure situation. Some used to say that they laugh/make jokes to relieve the pressure, because if they didn't, they'd be crying.

If they don't put in a real realism mode, they'll split the existing community down the middle -- the ones still playing RO:OST and others playing RO:HOS. Splitting up an already small community is a bad idea.

I don't have the beta, but I advice that not the game, but the people playing it, should go in "Relax Realism mode" for a while.

Just relax a while and wait till you can play on servers with your desired settings. All this quick conclusions leads nowhere. "They should have done this" "I want that ?" "They make game for the masses"
What did they think ? They make games exclusively for them.

Wake up, wait and relax for a while.

It actually woulden't have to be anything too major, but things along this line:

No extremely rare and prototype guns, just the standard issue stuff.

Longer bandaging time.

Delay weapon switching a bit.

Give the option to disable the Recon plane.

Possibly use static period correct loadouts, instead of the unlock system (more like Ost).

No pistols for classes who shoulden't have them.

Option to disable spawning with captured weapons.

Maybe tweak stamina a bit so you get less sprint time.

Maybe disable team switching in countdown, so we switch teams instead of sides (maybe make that on option).

Add class restrictions to the Firefight game-type.

Basically, take the "Realism-mode", grind off the rough edges that the realism players have issues with, and call it the
