What kind of installation is this? I see other ppl talking about 2gb? For gods sake, I bought the cd and now the stupid installation is downloading everything? 8194MB!!! CRAP! It seems everytime Im forced to use Steam my hatred for that crappy program gets more intense!

Im F*** annoyed about this

You are? How come the master DVD wasnt tested before this? How can anything like this come into production lane?

I can buy the argument steam ****ed it up, but im very suspicious to your testing. I hate steam, its a really ****ty app, i dont really want it.

Canceled 2gb DL, now im waiting more than 1yr to install from CD.

So I got an SSD, with like 14GB left, will this be suffice for install and download extra trouble? Maybe I need now 8gb install and 8gb saved extra data somewhere?

Thats an old and known steambug, i had that bug on many retail games. One possible fix is to delete local game content, close steam and try to start the installer on CD again, sometimes when the steamservers are "busy" it want to download the full game from the net instead of just patching the files which are already on the CD.

I had this problem on Total War: Shogun2 for example.

OK, got the disk today and installed off the disk. The game immediately starts to patch 8Gb, which I was surprised at.

I found this forum post and I followed the support page above, deleted the local content and used the Run command to install off the disk again: the bugger returned to the 8Gb patch.

This will rape my bandwidth for the month if I let it continue, so I have had to pause it until midnight...sigh.

Just to check, everyone else is just updating about 2Gb right? Are there any other suggestions on how I might be able to force it not to completely install the game again, if that's what it is doing?

Ta.

I also tried deleting all content and using the run command method, installed about 2.4 gig worth of something, tells me it's installed but then continues a massive 8 gig patch.

The patching was starting at around 2.4 gig in I think... so what the entire game is supposed to be 8 gig and what I purchased is only 2 and a half gigs of it ???

Completely defeats the purpose of a retail purchase.
