so im abit of a computer build enthusiast, yknow always gotta have the newest stuff, and i have been playing on 1440p for the past year and am attempting a way to play at 4k with reasonable fps, 60 to be precise, anyone got any ideas? For some more info ill put a link to my current build for all the see. my biggest concern is the SLI compatibility with the current engine and code. i seem to be able to run multiple UE games like KF, and UT on 4k at 60fps not to mention that many other games and engine's are well suited for 4k play at 60 fps with the proper hardware. i take the biggest hit with SLI enabled and only see a max of 40-60% gpu usage on EVGA Precision and msi afterburner...any ideas for better performance or maybe an SLI compatibility bits code i missed or nvidia inspector settings?

I found the profiles listed here on Reddit worked great.

I don't have nearly the monster rig that you do (Two 750m's in SLI) but it improved my performance. Also of note, you should have 2 different profiles in your SLI configs, one for RO2 and another for Rising Storm. Make sure they both have profiles set up as one of mine (The RS) was empty.

is it really necessary to run two separate profiles for a single EXE? since i include both the 64 bit and 32 bit exe in nividia inspector?

I dont think the RO2 profile is used. So Id be more concerned with the RS Profile, which when blank for me. I got No SLI in game.

The SLI profile you should be using is 0x02422605, not the default one which is garbage for scaling and performance.

0x02422405 (default):
Spoiler!

0x02422605:
Spoiler!

The only side effect is a little light bleed, which is not a big deal IMO and worth the performance boost:
Spoiler!

In addition, make sure you set in-game Occlusion Quality to Normal for increased performance with absolutely no graphical difference.

Lastly, set AllowFluidSimulation=False in the [SystemSettings] section of ROEngine.ini to prevent drops in GPU usage when moving though water on RS maps. Perform this step last, after you've finalized all in-game settings, because opening the in-game video settings menu will revert it back to true. Or set ROEngine.ini to read-only.

With your build you'll have no problems whatsoever running this game at 60 FPS maxed out at 4K on just a single 980. I can already do that on a single 980M. Hell, with 980 SLI you could run at 5K (2x the pixels of 4K) via SGSSAA or DSR/GeDoSaTo downsampling and still get 60 FPS.

So TL;DR your rig is massive overkill for RO2/RS. The only thing which might present a problem (well, more like an annoyance) is the CPU-bound nature of this game, which you can see from the maxed out usage on only one thread in my screenshots. With the insane amount of GPU horsepower you have, more likely than not you'll encounter some CPU bottlenecking and low GPU usage, but it won't be bad enough to drop you below 60 FPS, and you can always raise the graphics even more to compensate or by OCing the 4790K. If you're gunning for a constant 120/144 FPS on a 120/144Hz monitor though, it might be tough given the poor multi-threading in this game.

i jsut asked because when in nividia inspector under the rising storm profile it says the exe is used for already by the default ro2 profile....

And it would have been good to read all the rig specs because i have my 4790k on liquid cooling and oced to its max thermal of 4.5GHz i also have both my gpus under a stable oc.

Um ok..
I was just sharing a solution for a problem I had with the SLI profiles. Octiceps is an SLI expert IMO and gave you some great advice.

Your response confuses me. Good luck with the rig sir.

48" Samsung JS9000 in 4k here.

My results are as follows.

A single Geforce GTX 980ti can handle most maps at 4k even at ultra settings and still provide 60fps. Some 3rd party maps up the polygon counts significantly though, and require two in SLI.

I have found RO2 to be unusually jerky in SLI though, even with the SLI profile fix. I overclocked my CPU to 5ghz, and it improved, suggesting that SLI adds a lot of CPU load, and getting higher CPU performance improves it.

The game is great at 4k on a 48" screen though. Love it!

Nice setup. You need to use the alternate SLI profile 0x02422605 to fix the random FPS and GPU usage drops when running in SLI. And you're right, this game is single-threaded and can be quite CPU-bound at times. Needs a fast processor to feed such a monster GPU setup like yours esp. when running at high frame rates (100+ FPS).

Thanks for this information!

Hmm, do you know which field in Nvidia inspector I change?

I looked at the profile I edited for "Rising Storm" in Nvidia inspector (because after the RS release, the game no longer loads the "Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad" profile.

Click to Embiggen:

It looks like I am using the 0x02422405 profile in two places, "Antialiasing Compatibility", and "SLI Compatibility bits".

Do I just change those to 0x02422605, or does the 0x02422605 go in other places as well?

Appreciate the help!

You only need to change it to 0x02422605 on the line that says 'SLI compatibility bits'.

'Antialiasing compatibility' line is for forcing SGSSAA. The flag which works for RO2/RS is 0x080000C1 but you will not have playable performance at 4K + SGSSAA even with 980 Ti SLI.

You need to enter the values manually and remember to click 'apply changes' at the top. Do it for both the RO2 and RS game profiles.

Thanks for that.

It WAS working great, then I installed the latest nvidia drivers, and everything went to hell.

I recreated the profiles (I believe) exactly the way I had it before, but now my framerate is dropping to 30fps (essentially unplayable IMHO)

Going to try to downgrade the drivers again and see if that helps.

Just curious, do you run at your own settings or let GEForce Experience "optimize" them? Also whenever I update my driver, it turns SLI off for some reason. I have to re-enable it myself

Yeah, I re-enabled SLI, I don't "optimize" settings, but rather set my own.

Last night I was pinned at 60fps with a flat line, today it is dropping to the 30s and 40s.

Thought it was the GeForce drivers (only thing I changed) but I just rolled them back, and still the same problem....

Sigh. I blame Windows 10. It's been flaky, but the problems I had early on resolved themselves, even without a patch :p It seems all over the place. I might temporarily roll back to 8.1, until Microsoft gets their shot together...m

I randomly have these un explained performance problems and drops in FPS myself, honestly most of the time if I reboot it seems to clear them up. Im running 8.1 myself, terrified to upgrade...:)

Don't tick 'clean install' when you update drivers if you don't want your custom game profiles and settings to get wiped

What is the input lag on that setup?
