3D VoIP: Does that mean you by using a 5.1 or 7.1 sound system, you are able to hear your fellow players from the position they're standing (in relation to your position)?

for real?? wtfff this would be amazing

Used this a couple times playing project reality and using mumble, but it was a pain in the *** to get everything right, everyone needing the same setups, etc.

really looking forward to try it out!

You don't need to have a 5.1 or 7.1 sound system, your normal sound system will be able to process the sound the same way, and make it seem like someone behind you in-game is actually talking behind you.

Headphones are great for this! And a great game to try it out in if you have never tried it is in Project Reality, a BF2 reality MOD.

YESSSSS! This is something that is just required for ALL realism games. I've grown so used to it in Arma 2 that it's a huge loss whenever I play a game without it.

Imagine it being projected out into the game like the rest of the in-game sounds/voices, complete with sound distortion/fade out in respect to the environment...

But even positional audio would rock.

An actual reason to use in-game VOIP over a 3rd party program? Wouldn't that be something.....

It'd still hinge on the quality though.

Personally I like using both... like in PR for example. Mumble is useful for communicating with people on your team not in your squad, while you can use TS (or the in-game voip but quality sucks) for squad chat.
