Anyone have any other suggestions? Is blender the only free open source 3d modeler out there? Max, maya, milkshape all have the 30 trial and honestly thats getting tiresome. I certainly dont have what is it like 3000 or 4000 dollars layin around atm to spend on a program and Blender confuses the hell out of me.

get yourself the free version of xsi (now autodesk) softimage and you're set.

Great thats sort of what I was looking for. Its free and pretty straight forward from fist impressions, havent read up on the licensing yet though but will soon. Thx. Also if anyones interested, here is a link below to the dl. I would suggest moddb as a foreign site had this with users complaining of spyware.

yeah honestly by all accounts it's perfect for introducing stuff to unreal or source, and i think it supports crytek now ( for what it's worth...).
I've fiddled around with it and found I got decent results quite quickly and easily.
A lot of vehicles that have appeared in an RO mod were modelled and rigged with this prog, albeit one of the retail versions.

Actually me and Ivan make all Unreal Weapons and stuff with Maya, as Maya is the program the devs use too. And actuall you can make nice stuff with it.
BTW there's a PLE (Personal Learing Adition) for free but it's a bit older, but for a beginner it's really enough. You won't really notice the difference.;)

This is no longer available. Also, xsi softimage has a watermark and there are no tutorials for the newer version... Little tired of the work around so after all this Im sticking with Blender. Its a no bs program thats free to use.
