This is based on Lionbi4's suggestion.

I'd like to see 3D glasses support incorporate having the right eye behind the iron sights, while the left eye is offset realistically (you can't have both eyes behind the IS).

This gives the player the realistic unobstructed left eye view for better situational awareness.

If the unobstructed view is distracting, you do what you do in real life to aim, close your left eye.

One problem is most people don't have 3D glasses - so it's a bit of a disadvantage (could be remedied by having an optional 50% transparency on the gun, but it would be ugly). A second is, if you're left eye dominant, you may find it difficult to aim (as did the real soldiers).

In my opinion: To much work for to little gain. And please no transparent weapons, i rather give the 3D people an advantage than have an ghostly weapon.

I disagree. It seems like very little work for the 3D glasses. All TWI has to do is make sure the left eye offset is realistic, and the 1st person model does the rest.

As far as the 50% transparency thing, I'd hate to play with it too, but it might be a nice optional key press to "open" your left eye.

I think that's taking things entirely too far, they aren't trying to replicate real life.

They've implemented peripheral awareness into the HUD of the game to compensate for the lack of situational awareness.

So I'm curious. How does the 1st person rifle look like on stereoscopic glasses? Will it just be right in the center for both eyes? Won't that make it look not 3D?

I've never tried a game with IS on a 3D setup.

generally in games you have 2 eyes that show a perfectly centered ironsight. However only one of the 2 ironsights actually fires where you aim.

Off centering the ironsight is a nice thing for 3d glasses, not just because its realistic. But it will simply look more natural and give a 3d feeling to the gun you are using.

This idea is fun, a pity I feel aberration for the whole 3d hype technology thing and I refuse to buy a monitor, a gfx card and glasses for it.

I am getting a 3d tv and was wondering the same thing. The Panasonic tv I am getting has direct support with Nvidia to make sure there is no problem for the PC they claim. As long as you have an Nvidia gtx card you are fine. Tripwire mentioned that the tank interiors were fully modeled in 3d so I hope that translates in true 3d for the tv. I used the 3d glases years ago when the game was a mod and they did work. It was the strangest feeling to look down the rifle and aim just like in real life. The only draw back from the old technology was ghosting and severe headaches... I am hoping that with the advent of 3d technology hitting many households HOS and other games will bring a new aspect to pc gaming.

Is it confirmed that RO2:HOS will support 3D glasses?
I know the game is based on Unreal engine and theoretically games on Unreal engine are 3D glasses enabled, but it would be great if TWI could confirm for RO2:HOS.

I'm a 3D fan and would definitly upgrade my system to a high frequency monitor and such especially for RO2.

Anyway, I think the absence of a HUD on the screen while playing is an advantage for 3D glasses since your stereoscopic is not 'blocked' by close by HUD-elements.

So could TWI or anyone knowing confirm about 3D glasses support please ?

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING IN 3D!!!!

the technology, which has already existed for over 10 years (3d mesh, no glasses needed, does not half the refresh rate but instead the resolution) is being fazed in so more money can be made, if you create a problem (glasses) and then solve it (mesh) you will make a nut-ton more money than just introducing 3D.

wait until the mesh comes, they will wait a bit and then pretend they have solved the glasses issue.
/off topic

If you create the option to make the game run in 3D with an offset eye, this would be great and relatively easy to do. As a 3d photographer i know what gun ironsights look like when taking 3d photos, line up the dominant eye (probably right) with the sight and just have the left eye offset by 5cm, probably centered at the target. I use the cross eye method to view 3d as it is easy and quick.

Wouldn't work for me since I'm left eye dominant. I would have to close my left eye a little bit every time I needed to aim. And I don't want my gun to the left, that looks wrong.

interlaced 3d does require glasses traditionally (for instance the zalman monitors). Unless you use auto stereoscopic, which locks you to a certain position unless there is a form of eye tracking present so it can focus the images directly to your eyes.

Glasses free free screens for big sizes aka with head tracking won't be out within the next 5 years for consumers. But of course it will still be supported by the current driver sets (iz3d and ddd at least nvidia as always is somewhat shabby in supporting non nvidia "certified" screens).

Generally you can select which eye is dominant for ironsight looking in games. And although impossible in the real world its possible in a gaming world without moving the gun to the other side.
