I think they are aware of the shiny and very well polished helmets ^^ , just keep in mind that it's still an aplha build and that quite a lot can still change.

 Bolt action best gun in the game lol

Semi automatics are better in almost every single way, the only thing that really helps out currently at the moment and gives bolt actions a slight advantage over SMG's is the fact that hip shooting is quite simply broken atm.

Unless you are in cover, miss one shot with the bolt and it's over for you against a good player because for the next 4 seconds they can take their time and aim at you without fear of return fire and if they can't kill you in 4 seconds without fear of getting shot at, then they are not a good player.

Ok, noticed this was a little off topic but I would say the bolt is the best in the game as well.

I have little to no problem hipshooting a semi either in a tight pattern*, if you learn how to control your mouse. (practice by find a wall, stand at a distance and practice). At least that is me, however I rarely use it because I prefer the bolt.

* a basketball'ish size grouping from maybe 10 meters with it enlarging the farther away you move

Rate of fire is its weakness, but everything else is great.
It depends what works best with you. People should use whatever they are best with, if they take a rifle because its harder or whatever they are just being snobbish :p.

In this game with a semi hitting someone behind cover showing a few pixels can be hard already at 50+ meters asking you to fire a few shots before hitting him due to the weapon accuracy. With a rifle if you miss the one shot you know the only issue for it is yourself, thats why its one of the easiest yet unforgiving weapons.

still I always prefer a semi due to it's higher rate of fire. Of course rifles are more accurate, but for a hipshoot-whore like me it's more important to be able to react faster. however i would still prefer a bolt over an smg

If you miss a semi auto shot, its because you missed. They basically do the same damage, hit in the chest and they are dead. The accuracy difference is only at extreme ranges and almost never is a problem. A semi can hip shoot just as well as a bolt action yet not be a sitting duck for 4 seconds after every shot. Saying a Bolt is better than a Semi is errr yes, I wont go there.

Saying a bolt action is more fun, I agree. I prefer the bolt purely for the sport, nothing imo is better than getting 5 kills with a bolt or even 10 with a len enfield clips :)

As long as we all have fun :) Personally, I have never fired an smg or semi on auto, so I can't honestly say how they should really feel in game.

After firing a SVT40 and the two main bolt rifles represented in RO, the K98 and a MN I still prefer the SVT ^^
And I can't say much about PPsH vs SVT in real life because due to stupid laws in germany one it is only allowed to fire single shots which ain't fun when you have a 70 round drum mag, but there was nearly no recoil with it :D

Shooting someone from the hip isn't that hard if they are 15 or so feet away from you. So RO does a good job there.

you don't actually shoot people from the hip. the weapon is shouldered, you're just not aiming with the ironsight.

in 1st person your weapon looks shouldered because it would look bad (for most ppl) if you only would see your weapon if you looked down

3rd person shows the real situation

the 3rd person animation was lacking likely due to technical constraints.

it's fixed now in hos as the soldiers have their weapons in low ready position.

i find that the bolt is somewhat easier to hip with and is more accurate. However in a direct confrontation with multiple enemies the semi is better just for the reason that you can get 11 shots off in a short time.

Hipshooting was trained in the second world war moving around shouldered with your weapon wasnt i believe.
