  • Constructive criticism is welcome. However keep in mind we (and other forums goers) may not agree with you. If you can't keep the conversation civil, you will be removed from the forums.
  • The use of hyperbole, one liners, and images as part of a forum debate is likely to get you infracted. You have many ways to participate and be a constructive part of this community, even when you disagree.

Please use common courtesy, and enjoy using Red Orchestra's forums
Offensive material
The following is a list of some things that MAY be considered "offensive" by the moderators and the team. This is NOT an exclusive list and it does depend very much on context.

Crossing the line into "offensive" territory is likely to get you asked to change your name, sig or avatar or to withdraw/delete posts. This will be done politely by the moderators. If you refuse to comply further action WILL be taken once started, ultimately leading to banning from the forums.

A key point: please attempt to use your brains. What is mild humour to you may well be deeply offensive to others. While we have no intention of acting as politically-correct "thought police", we are on the lookout for those things that can cause offense and, in some cases, are actually still illegal in some jurisdictions.
  1. Names recalling notorious war criminals or personalities.
  2. Names recalling atrocities and war crimes in general, or units with particularly odious histories.
  3. Use of obscenities and expletives.
  4. Blatant racism, mysogynism or many other "ism"s.
  5. Use of symbolism and regalia recalling Nazism or Fascism; this does not include pics of soldiers who happen to have such symbols on their uniform, unless we feel this has been done to provoke. Please note that many Nazi symbols (including the Swastika) are still illegal in Germany and other countries and considered deeply offensive by many Europeans.
  6. Use of symbolism and regalia recalling Stalinism.
  7. On both the previous two, the moderators' views on the intention and impact of use of such symbols will be final - not yours. Please be understanding if you are advised to change something.
  8. In general, if a sig/avatar represents your allegiances in-game and is clearly "in part", it is likely to be fine; if the moderators feel you are trying to demonstrate unpalatable political allegiances, or to use it in an attempt to ridicule or provoke others you WILL be asked to change it. RO is NOT the place to make any extremist political statements of any kind.

So people get the idea, some examples that would be considered offensive, numbered as above:
  1. "Hitler", "Beria"
  2. "NKVD Blocking Detachment", "Einsatzgruppen"
  3. This one should be pretty obvious...
  4. So should this - and it includes calling all Germans "Nazis" and all Soviets/Russians "Commies". It got boring 50 years ago, so stop it.
  5. Use of swastikas, fasces, SS-runes and so on for the Axis.
  6. There is actually very little overt symbolism from the Stalinist era; the hammer-and-sickle isn't offensive per se.

A simple rule-of-thumb: many Europeans find Nazi symbolism of any sort offensive; many Americans still find Soviet symbolism offensive. Engage your brain before using.

Final Note: this is NOT open to debate, so please do NOT start whining and moaning if a moderator asks you to change something. They will advise at first, giving reasons, then, if you take no notice, they will step up the pressure through to banning.

  • The prosecution and the ban by the TWIL.

    Good evening,

    (and first, sorry by advance, for my bad english lvl)

    I'm Eralorn, one of the leader of =TFD=, since fews years, a new team that appeared during the Bolt Cup tournament. I am since yesterday banned from TWIL. I wanted to show my disagreement and disappointment of all of my team for this. I'll tell the story, and how things are gone.

    I am a player without history. I have never been banned by VAC, or by any anti-cheat software. I run a community for years, I am an editor, a writer and an events organizer. But as the staff of the TWIL told me; "who cares, you're a cheater!".

    After the last game of the tournament, I learned indirectly that I was accused of having used a Wallhack during all my teams matches. I kept my composure, knowing myself innocent and I followed the procedure. I thought while TWIL was unbiased. I was wrong. From the beginning, I have not been suspected, but was considered guilty. In France, in our country, an accused is presumed innocent, not guilty.

    The TWIL organized a meeting with my partners, Baal, Sacha, and LeBrun. I was not invited to that meeting. What for ? I don't know. Supposed evidence were presented. This meeting was a sham trial, worthy of the great Stalinist trials. My friends could speak, but with a knife to their throat. The technique was simple; "confess that he is a cheater, and then we will have a confession." Unfortunately, my friends were determined and fought hard. It was quite a setback for TWIL ....

    Following this, the TWIL would normally hold another meeting. I was to be invited there. But nothing! The TWIL banish me just yesterday, not allowing me to defend myself....

    Now about the supposed evidence. I have been called a cheater, because shooting through smoke. This prompts me to wonder if the TWIL knows how to play Red Orchestra 2. Any veteran player will tell you that it is possible to track a player you saw back in the smoke, OR you heard his character speak. Or even that your team has given you his position ... etc. The possibilities are many. In fact, I have not had the right to defend myself, and no matter the defense of my team, I was guilty!

    Finally, I was condemned by TWIL. I was sentenced, whereas in many games, I had very poor results. How a cheater may have bad results? And now attention, TWIL tell you that I am an intelligent computer, the devil incarnate!

    Fortunately, we have learned that the TWIL had already condemned players without reasons. We had our conscience for us. The TWIL is a corrupt organization, which crushes new small teams trying to break into the middle of this elite community. That's not my personnal thinking, but of all the TFD.

    What the TWIL did not realize was that their evidence is not valid. Nobody in the TFD has believed for one second to their supposed evidence. We have not dropped the case, and I paid the price. I was sentenced by the TWIL without evidence, by software that does not show the zoom of the weapon, and which does not reconstitute smoke the same way that the day of the game. I was condemned as a cheater, while my game files were intact, and no anti-cheat software expelled me from the party. They will tell you that Punkbuster and Vac are bad anti-cheats, and it is impossible to detect in 2015 a Wallhack on RO2! Long live for the Middle Ages. The world of TWIL is a strange world. It is a world where the TFD does not have their place ...

    Because yes. Strangely enough, I am supported by my entire team RO2, and all of my community, all games combined. It is that there is a problem somewhere right?

    What shame on them. This message will be sent to Tripwire Interactive, and other people who can defend myself honorably. In waiting, I wish you a lot of courage to TWIL you to continue to let die your community, to the benefit of other community, which opens its doors with friendship and kindness. Do not expect us to drop the case. And count on us to bring this issue as far as possible ...

    With all due respect, failing to have yours.

    Sympathies for the situation. I wish the procedure was more open, evidence for these situations should be 120% solid and therefore could be shown publicly with clear explanations, I imagine. Unfortunately this is not the first time people have to kind of take on trust that the RO2 demos are 100+% accurate, but atleast the demos used for the verdict are given for view.

    e. altought it does seem I for one don't have access to them. dammit
    e2. Watched on youtube.. Im not convinced of the validity of the ban, to say the least.

        Good evening,

        I'm surprised by the announcement and the result that was made yesterday about a TFD member, Eralorn. So , after I was told that he was suspected of using a wallhack during the tournament, a month ago, we agreed with the TWIL anti-cheat team (2 members of GFA) to have a fair trial. After a first meeting where they presented their evidences by witch we were convinced that Eralorn was not guilty because we found an explanation for most actions that were made by him. So we agreed to have a second meeting a week later. It gave us the time to prepare our defence. On the D-day we came for the meeting and we were suprised to find out that no one from TWIL was present. A few days later {GFA} Piriou (anti-cheat team) came to present his apologies and we agreed to find an another day for a meeting, obviously he never proposed one. During that conversation we had a little talk about "not trusting anyone on internet" , he was talking about Eralorn, so I guess you were right but not about yourself and not Eralorn after what the backstab TWIL did.

        Now , I will explain and show some parts of our defence that we prepared for nothing. The main thing that Eralorn was accused of were the shots through smoke , "We found this player shooting through smoke in several Bolt-Cup matches." in the announcement. I found out and it was confirmed by Ducky (the creator of TWIL Demo Manager), that the demos doesn't show the zoom when you aim and the most important , the smoke reconstitution is totaly random and it doesn't show what really happened during the game. To prove that , we used two screenshots from thow videos that we were shown by the TWIL :

        One of this guys was killed by Eralorn but as said the TWIL "he didn't see him". Really ?
        This is an another screenshot taken by us, of the same action:

        That be being said and shown, I guess that our definition of "fairness" is not the same and this case is not over.

          About the evidence ...

          First one,

          Match: 2015-08-09(PB-vs-=TFD=)
          DemoID: CD_BoltCup_EU_1-Rev1333-Match552.1.demo
          Frame: 850

          Smoke is active for less than five seconds, so not completely opaque. With the zoom, it is easily assumed that I could see the target move. And of course, we must not forget that the DemoRec is a software that is not 100% sure, because it don't rebuilt smoke in the same way every time... This is a random reconstruction, and you can not deny it, Sacha proved it on the message above.

          Second one,

          Match: 2015-09-05(MERC-vs-=TFD=)
          DemoID: CD_BoltCup_EU_1-Rev1335-Match579.1.demo
          Frame: 12000

          And there is a screen of the action; Has you can see, Whiteknight shoot on me first ... so he can see me too ? I am accused of a shooting that my opponent did it first! It's unbelievable! Whiteknight shoot on me first, and because of i'm looking on the good direction, i'm making a reflex shot, and healing myself just a second after.... You can search for what you want. Whiteknight shot me first, I fought back. Look at the DemoRec from the point of view of Whiteknight before presenting evidence that is so badly fitted.

          I'm sure, that the TWIL will explain us, why {MERC} Whiteknight, shoot me first through the smoke on the 2nd evidence video... By reasonable, we can consider that this evidence is no longer valid. The facts are there.

            We received from Ducky a message to begin an appeal procedure. We are writing our defense. We will keep you informed.

              Oke, hope you guys can work that out as the process is between these two parties, despite the team now already went into public about the matter.

              Still a lot information from the TFD that was posted is highly questionable.

                Today, despite our appeal request, the TWIL still considers that my banishment from the TWIL is legal. We'll try to push on Tripwire direclty with legal procedure. However, I can distribute my appeal on the internet for all to see, so they can imagine the level of evidence and our defense.

                Our appeal;

                Match: 2015-08-09(PB-vs-=TFD=)
                DemoID: CD_BoltCup_EU_1-Rev1333-Match552.1.demo
                Frame: 850
                Match: 2015-09-05(MERC-vs-=TFD=)
                DemoID: CD_BoltCup_EU_1-Rev1335-Match579.1.demo
                Frame: 12000

                First one; Match: 2015-08-09(PB-vs-=TFD=) - ;
                (two screenshots to prove it ( - )).
                This is important because it shows that the TWIL is able to banish players on an image which meaning is random. We can accept that it could be consider in some cases, but absolutely not in the present case.

                _ The [PB] I have killed was hidden behind a chariot which is a well-known spot on this map. I have, which is logical, kept an eye on it. This is why I was focused on that particular spot at this moment of the round, just after the respawn wave of the [PB]s. Even more, one of my TFD team mate warned me after seeing them hiding behind that chariot.

                With all those elements, this is how, from our sight, the incriminate scene happened ;

                For the second proof; Match: 2015-09-05(MERC-vs-=TFD=) - - ;

                In this video, we can see this clear situation;

                _ The [MERC] player, Whiteknight, shoot first through the smoking grenade, I take that shot. Which would imply that Whiteknight is guilty for that shot through the smoke grenade, but the TWIL decided it was me.
                _ End of the action, I heal, covered, because of the bullet received from Whiteknight.
                Being aware of all those elements, this is how, from our point of view, the incriminated scene did happen ;

                So, as said before in this appeal file, we showed that the two proofs presented by the TWIL are not valid and not admissible.
                There was no cheating during the TWILs BOLT CUP tournament. I would like you to analyze those facts, in a impartial way, and to clean the honor of my team and my name.
                With all my respect, and thanking you by advance for your kind intention.
                Best regards
