Mac10 and leveling up

I'm on firebug level 1, and while this may come at higher levels, I noticed damage dealt by the Mac10 doesn't count towards level up at all. I'd check higher level requirements, but I'm unsure how to do this. Does Mac10 damage ever come into play for leveling?

Yes it counts.

The dmg dealt by the shoots dont count. It is only the fire dmg that count, so you only get xp if you put the spec on fire.

 

[Compass]

It only counts the fire damage you've done at most. Bullet damage definitely does not count.
