RO Fight Club

ae380j.jpg

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/rofightclub

We'll be meeting up on Sundays @ 8:30PM EST for some nail biting, intense, tactical, so-good-you-could-smack-your-mama-action. The admins are focused primarily on creating competitive pick up matches with even (skill wise) teams.

When:
Saturdays: 1:30PM EST, 19:30CET
Where: UK server & Mumble: roladder.net 64750
Sundays: 8:30pm EST
Where: NA server & Ventrilo: vent14.gameservers.com 4332

Goal is to have weekly large scale mixed battles. Each week players will join the a designated Ventrilo server to be divided into 2 teams. Two captains will then privately select players one by one to form each team. Battles will be held in a North American server and players must be in vent in order to participate.

The group is currently invite only (ask anyone for an invite) but it will soon be made into a public group. Come along and invite your friends. Both clan players and pubbers are welcomed.

We originally set this up to give the NA scene more action, but it can be easily used for Euro server-based matches as well.

Let me know the best day & time for the first one and we'll set it up. The server would be london based for those. Bear in mind it's best to post the event several days before, to give people time to join the group and have enough players to make it a lot of fun. Then invite those you think would like these type of pick-up games.

Let me know.

Why, oh why must you break the first rule of RO Fight Club?

ah but he's following the first rule of RO Fight Club.........which IS to talk about RO Fight Club :D

like i posted in the steam group, when parties started talking about getting something like this going, our first goal is to work towards getting the NA clanscene back into playing again. we were thinking baby steps with NA first and expanding with EU times if the idea caught on.

the overall goal of the group is to help with some community building primarily for the clanscene while we wait for ROHOS to arrive. the events will be loosely organized mixed-clan (and RO "regulars") pickup games. so not as seriously as standard matches or scrims but an alternative to unorganized pub play.

if there's enough euro guys willing to help set up earlier events then let's go for it. endorphin said he thinks Core vent might be available and i'm sure a game server would be available......if anyone is interested in "managing" the steam group, vent/game servers for the EU side, just post up :)

ROFC 1st game recap.

Our first map was on Odessa. In the Glorious Soviet Army, the 8th Rifles battalion had pushed into the city earlier the previous morning. The plan was to Take the Tower located next to the square to set up a base of fire to support the further advance into the Axis group Headquarters in the City square. The attack commenced at mid day, with a furious thrust into the apartments, they had captured the building and began to infiltrate the square. Soon after, they swamped into the right side of the cap, and captured the point.

The axis then reeled in defense, and attempted to set up a good defense at the HQ and Tower. The attack that was carried out by the allied army on the HQ square was extremely successful in removing the Axis threat, allowing a quick cap. In disbelief, the axis forces struggled to stabilize the Tower cap point. With over 7 minutes left in the game, the axis provided a stead fast defense against the crashing waves of allied soldiers. The allied army tried 2 major pushes in the last 3 minutes, both were repulsed.

In the second round, The allied army once again sallied forth, invading the Apartments and square. The axis forces provided a better defense than the experience prior, and were close to being able to hold onto the square longer. Yet the allies broke through with a few well placed grenades, and were able to immediately push on to the Tower. After the blitzkrieg to the tower cap, the allies began a concerted effort to capture the HQ through a double pronged assault. The axis forces provided stubborn defense, laying down a withering effect of MG fire and grenade placement along the two routes of advance. The death blow came along the right flank, a few well placed shots took out the MG's set up in the HQ and the allies were able to kill or capture the remaining Axis soldiers.

Our second map was Basovka. In the first round, the axis were able to penetrate deep inot the cap and had captured the AT position with 5 minutes. The map ended being a full victory for the axis, as the allies were un-able to provide a strong enough defense against the German Army.

In the second round of Basovka, the axis once again were able to capture the first point within a few minutes. Though they tried with incredible furor, they were unable to capture any further ground. And the allies were able to repel the Axis for good.

In the first round, we had 11 vs 11, and for the second round we play 8vs8.

Thank everyone for coming, we plan on having many more of these meet ups, as they were a big success. I think everyone had a good amount of fun.

Thank a million to:
SiN for the use of their Ventrillo server, with special notice to -[SiN]-bswearer
[3.SA]Codeine for the use of his server.

A note for future games, there will 2 maps, totaling 4 rounds. We will keep the original teams for all 4 rounds, and then open the server and voting up to anyone to just pub.

was great fun and thanks to all who showed up! :)

i think it was deadbolt who said "nice to see all these americans in a server again" (something like that) to which i also feel the same way! was a nice alternative to 24/7 danzig/arad or crap ping on an EU server :D

yes i think this will work out see to follow that pattern. divide into teams for 2 maps, 4 rounds total like it's a typical scrim, then open up the server to pub with whoever wants to stick around.

we took off the vent channel passwords so that moving into the proper channels will help organize things quicker. looking into other ways to make things run smoother and have better distributions of players etc....

remember, our main goal is to have a good time playing RO. this isn't designed to be a super serious event where people need to focus on winning and losing. just a way to get people together at the same time to get some good battles going. :)

an EU event sounds like a great plan! assuming somebody will be able to donate an EU vent and game server to use so that nobody is bothered with ping problems.

also one thing to note for all interested in playing.....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE download Ventrilo and get the server info. when teams are being sorted out we need to know who is there and who is playing. once teams are set it's important for communication that everyone knows what is going on, what the server is, the server password etc.....even if you don't have a mic or don't talk much to begin with, just being able to hear what's going on will really help improve your experience!
