Need decent microphone

Alright so the deal is I have these fancy $300 audiophile headphones that I use for music and games and I don't want to buy some headset with lower quality phones... but the problem is it seems almost all the mics you can get that aren't the kind you sit on your desk and speak into (not cool for gaming) are part of a headset.

Right now I'm using this $10 headset I got from walmart. It's small enough that I can hang it on my neck and wrap the mic up and just leave the earphones on the side of my neck (less uncomfortable than it sounds ). Problem is quality kinda sucks cause it's obviously not designed for that. Are there any mics that can snap on to a separate headphone set or something like that?

A clip mic like this would be your best bet.

On a side note, I've got a CA-brand el-cheapo desk mic that works pretty darn well. You could probably get something like that and do a little modding and separate the mic and wire from the rest of the setup and figure a better place to locate the mic.

I have the same problem actually. I'd prefer a clip on mic boom, but everywhere people recommend some zalman made clip on mic which can be inserted to the wires >_>

not sure if you can get them seperate, but I have a steelseries siberia, comes with this small mic that can clip on the side of your screen and pick you up good from 2 feet. I moved it ~ 1 foot away so as to turn down the feed and get rid of some distortion. its a good mic and the headset and mic combo can be had for ~30 when on sale (reg 100).
