Gunslinger Perk - Yes or No?

Gunslinger Perk - Yes or No?

I am still failing to see how the Gunslinger perk will be useful in KF. So I'll start it out like this.

Killing Floor is a co-op game, where the players must help each other to survive. There are 7 perks, each with different characteristics and some perks are almost opposites of each other. This is done to encourage teamwork.

Now what I can gather from the posts I have read, the Gunslinger perk is a versatile, pistol wielding, ZED-Time based perk. I have a problem with the "versatile" part. Your idea of versatile is having the perk decent against all enemies but having it outshined by other perks if a certain enemy is their primary role.

I want to say this. Versatility in KF is a big NO-NO! Versatility won't encourage teamwork, it will destroy it! Because the Gunslinger perk seems to be able to take on any kind of enemy, there doesn't seem to be an obstacle that the Gunslinger can't overcome! Everyone will want to play as Gunslinger because of this! No one will want to play any of the other perks anymore. Diversity will disappear! Think of it this way. A team of 6 Commandos will be crushed by Fleshpounds and Scrakes. A team of 6 Support Specialists will get mauled by crawlers. But what's going to defeat a team of 6 Gunslingers? They are decent enough to take on any kind of enemy! Are you guys seeing what this perk is going to do to KF!? Please people, open your eyes! The Gunslinger still needs a weakness!

Your saying it like the perk will be in a future KF update.

I don't find this perk useful with just pistols shooting which sharpshooter could accomplish already. Sorry but i'm gonna vote no.

This perk is, among other reasosn, a sharpshooter nerf. They shouldn't be able to do that. Pistols aren't sharpshooter weapons, and that was extensively discussed here, so I won't give out the specifics.

A gunslinger would also have other features that the Sharpshooter can't accomplish like for example higher damage during zed-time.

I am all for this perk. SS is strong enough, it never seemed like it was right to give sharpshooters so much weaponry, with this much control. I think it's time for the sharpshooter to hand his pistols over to a perk with better handgun expertise, and master their soon to be nerfed weapons, so they can actually hit something when their M14's can't be spammed.

I do agree with u that sharpshooter shouldn't use pistol since they are trained to be hitting long range targets with a rifle or sniper rifle. Higher dmg during zed-time sure is nice but it would be better if u could implement better abilities like 'increase stopping power' which is similar to using handcannon to stun clots and gorefast in suicidal.

LAR for secondary if this goes into place for SS? Your taking away the handcannons and leaving no back-up weapon. X-bow has 40 shots, so unless you want to double that that have to add something for the SS for this to work.

A sharpshooter is not meant to go middle-close range. Thus, he has no need for weaponry covering such ranges. If he does get there, then either his team sucks, or he sucks.
His weapon covering the shortest range is the M14EBR. Now, it works at every range, but hopefully, after-patch it won't be able to handle himself at close range.

I normally end up with more than 20 bolts left after a round, because there are more effective weapons at the moment. To be precise, the 9mm and the HC. with those, you have enough ammo (9mm) for Clots, Gorefasts, Crawlers, Stalkers, and Bloats; and enough Firepower (HC) for situations when u dont have the time to aim for the head. If u use your Xbow only on Scrakes, FPs, Husks and sometimes on Sirens (if u dont have the time do give her some HC Headshots without getting dmged by her screams), then 40 Bolts are more then enough.

How you said, the Backup Weapon will be taken when the pistols are removed, but there we got to ask us, if a SS should have such a powerfull backup weapon. In my eyes, NO. Let him have the LAR for some decent backup on smaller Specimen, but don't give him as powerfull weapons as the pistols are. Because that is what actually makes him OP. Ramboing around, killing everything with Pistols and taking out the xbow if theres something that u cant handle with pistols.

Make the Gunslinger the one who is able to handle everything with pistols (execpt for the Harder ones ofc) and let the SS be what he should be: The one who can handle the big ones, but who is ****en up when there is a bunch of crawlers, stalkers and some gorefasts running towards him.

Thats the idea of the Gunslinger, and in my eyes, its just a very good one.
