I'm pretty inept when it comes to port forwarding, so I have a stupid question; what IP am I supposed to use when I forward a port? I remember hearing I was supposed to use my own but my netgear told me I needed to use a lan address or something similar. Any help would be appreciated.

Since port forwarding is for creating routes from net to computers inside the local network; the ip of the box that is hosting the server.

Ok so you're saying I need to use my computer's IP address? The thing is when I try to do that I get "Server IP address must be a LAN IP address." from my Netgear router.

Yes, you need to use your computer's local IP address. For example, if your router is at the address 192.168.0.1, your computer's address will be something like 192.168.0.10.

Thanks for the help. A friend just got on and called me a scrub and then told me to go to ipconfig so I got it working
