Il-2 thread

http://www.lowengrin.com/download.php?list.3 <--- here you can find IL-2 DCG.

http://www.lowengrin.com/content.php?article.cat.8 <--- here you can find documentary regarding how to install, adjust settings etc.

It's quite good programm as it practically allows every possible major operation or theatre of war between 1939 and 1945 and it allows quite high customisation in general. Might take a bit to get used to how it works, but it's quite easy to use.

I remember playing one campaign as Bf-110 pilot from Fall Weiss to Battle of Britain until I got slightly bored with it. Nevertheless, it was quite interesting.

Forget it Blizzard:
The Ju-87G in Il-2 sucks big time:

- you can only penetrate the lightest of tanks (T34s are a no-no), this is either due to Il-2's simplistic armor system, or due to the fact that the Bk3.7 is modeled without tungsten core ammunition or a combination of both

- IRL the gun was sighted slightly below the "flight axis", so you could fire without running that thing into the ground. This is not present in Il-2.

- finally, but this is from "what I heard", the gun (being a FLAK originally) had a much higher ROF than what it has in-game

Overall it's not very satisfying to fly imo.

I just destroyed several T-34s in IL-2 quick mission generator, side axis, map Moscow, target armour, Ju-87G and set cannon coverenge to 200 yards and shot them in 40-50 degree angle.

It's fairly logical that hitting in 20-30 degree angle to side or front doesn't really cause penetration that well with 37mm gun past 300+ yards.
