kewl, played that in the past, but didnt get past the mission where you have to attack an armoured nazi train (i was like 11 yrs then)

Sorry for the mega bump, but I think maybe some newwer members of the forum would enjoy this list.
I use it all the time, for older games like transport tycoon, and sending files to myself from home to my college.

Another fun free game to try out:
Dwarf Fortress

It's a rogue-like which means ASCII interface with a great deal of complexity. There are graphic tilesets you can use if (much like me) you can't stand the sight of ASCII graphics.
This is what the game looks like with the default tileset:

The game features highly detailed world generation with quasi-realistic geology, tons of environmental features, megabeasts like dragons/titans/colossus', and the capability to build some of the craziest contraptions you can think of.
There are 3 modes, 2 of which (Dwarf Fortress and Adventure) are gameplay modes while the other (Legends mode) is more of a "history of the random generated world" type deal.
In Adventure mode, you play as a single adventurer exploring the worlds that you've generated. It's fairly straightforward hack and slash with quests and drunks to recruit.
In Dwarf Fortress mode, you embark on a patch of land with 7 dwarves with two goals: Survive and prosper. You can dig your fortress out of the earth itself, or you can build an above ground citadel with retractable drawbridges and seige equipment. There is so much detail in the mechanics of this game that I cannot begin to explain it all here. Dwarves are capable of having emotions, forming relationships, adopting pets, being posessed and creating artifacts out of random objects lying about, etc. Any fortress that fails or that you abandon can be explored in adventure mode (with tons of amazing loot that you've crafted/created).
The motto of the game is "Losing is fun!" Let that be your mantra, because you will die horribly many a time before you get the hang of this game.

I believe a guy named somethin glike "Onion" had a Dwarf Fortress thread going on in the Podium . . . he gave every dwarf a name of one of the forum members and it was pretty fun
It's totally time for a new Dwarf Fortress thread!
And anyone who uses a custom tile thread is a cheat.
Once again, it's time for a new Dwarf Fortress thread--as long as someone else does it, because that game confuses the hell out of me.

Oh no, dont make me download Dwarf Fortress again, last time i played it I was up until 5am two or three nights in a row trying to figureout an ingeneous pump system and atempting to get my metal work operation working properly.
