fleshpound: decapitation and sudden-death

Okay, now, everyone who complained about the FP decap...what do you think now?

Because the FP rage-a-thon has changed the gameplay substantially. Especially with the possible glitch that gives them Gorefast/Scrake length raging (aka FOREVER). I am a personal witness to an FP massacring a team like no other. And these are people who play smart - a string of grenades, allowing one person to be the target and surround the FP with pain. The random rage has forced a substantial change in thinking that I don't think any team has figured out yet. Also, with Gorefasts getting movement + strike, you actually have to be more worried about the little guys than the FP...though they are on equal footing.

I predict the top 3 killers for this patch to be:

1. Gorefast
2. Scrake
3. Fleshpound

I would have put crawler in the top 3 but with the new movement + kill, early rage/movement + kill, and random long-term rage, I actually have seen a decrease in crawler related deaths.

Yeah, that's about right for the top 3 killers. Skrakes 'Steamroll' teams better than Fleshpounds do now. I think it's hilarious that they put the kiting-induced super-rage into Fleshpounds. If you kite them too long, they get uber-pissed and rage UNTIL they hit someone!

I still don't like the decap method because it's too easy (I can do it to even raged Fleshpounds these days!), but without it, they're near-unkillable now on Hard and up...

I want to say leave the FP decapitation in. I don't see many teams surviving Suicidal difficulty nowadays with the new Scrake, Gorefast, Bloat, and Fleshpound AI. It's SUPER risky to even attempt doing it, as one mistake and you're meat paste.

I don't even waste my time TRYING suicidal after that last patch. It's truly impossible, with most teams (Even the GOOD ones) wiping after maybe the 3rd or 4th wave...

Is it possible to figure out? Whether your team is offensive or defensive, the FP will still probably rage and kill you. You can have a definite rage that will end, or a possible rage that may not go away. I'm not trying to say there is no way, but I can't see a way that wouldn't even a currently undiscovered, exploitable glitch.

The latest patch provides more reason to play various perks rather than just Support Specialist and Medic. It at least encourages variety, particularly giving the Beserkers a much more stronger role in the combat against Scrakes and Flesh Pounders.

I think the biggest difference in game play comes down onto the 6+ servers. People are starting to wake up to the fact that Shotguns aren't the only weapon available, and not always the most efficient against a 500+ wave.

I am still having issues with trying to decap the FP's, mainly because of the framerate. This forces me to have to use the "old-fashioned" method. Which is now impossible thanks to random rages. I think it would be nice if Fleshies took increased damage / increased headshot damage during enrage to help the survivability of the players a little. Or make them start losing health when enraging from being kited and then eventually die of a cardiac arrest so the team facing it has at least a slight chance of making it trough without getting splattered.

let someone else do it and take another role

IMO this is a good thing. It's much better to have suicidal mode as a sort of impossible goal to reach rather than an easy mode "lets run away forever" type deal when field medics could run fast. Personally, I love the new changes.

They make fleshpounds and scrakes the threats they were meant to be.

Learn english.

Suicidal difficulty is for suicide. It's not even supposed to be won really. At least in other games i know.

I think the main issue average players, myself included, have here is that for now, even the normal is damn near impossible, thanks to the new changes to the enemy AI. :p

Nah. In fact, normal tends to feel like a cakewalk once you get used to it. I can regularly goof around or go solo on normal without a problem, even post-patch.

Hard, on the other hand, is damn near unbeatable. I used to love Hard servers because they were tough, yet winnable. It's not the same now...if a pair of Gorefasts get lucky and get 'Moving attacks' on you that you can't avoid, that's about 90% of your health gone right there...and since Gorefasts attack in packs of 6-7, the likelyhood of that happening is pretty high...

IMO "Hard" mode is really to be played with an organised team right now. Like with your friends and with voice comms. Because just like you said, if you get hit by a Gorefast or Scrake, it's pretty much over for you.

I remember a Hard game on a public server post-patch, we were at wave 7 in Biolabs and were doing pretty good with like 30 zeds left. Then a Scrake came running and almost killed a teammate, and while everybody tried to save him the firepower focused on Scrake and we got swarmed with Gorefasts/Crawlers/Bloats meanwhile and got wiped out. It never really happened before pre-patch, save for some Fleshpound situations.

That's why you need a solid, rank 5 Berserker on your team to deal with them and a solid Rank 5 Medic to heal said Berserker when situations get sticky.

So... Any suggestions for solo games then?
I like having a quick blast around for a few mins every now and then in Solo Mode, but I don't find it that fun anymore. A lot of my friends have already stopped playing KF already, too, because of its shortcomings.

No, I am not playing on Suicidal, but still, at any difficulty the FP random enrage doesn't ever seem to run out. It just seems to re-enrage as soon as soon as it gets close enough to me and hits me. And then it enrages again. And hits me, and enrages again... Which I just find absolute b****cks. Especially when FP spawns on KF-Farm and happens to be:
a) Too far for me to see.
b) Too far away from me so it decides to almost instantly perma-enrage.

Just makes me wonder if I can even be bothered to play 6 waves to be insta-splatted by a FP. At least before the update I was able to sometimes complete a map on normal.

Hmm, for solo I'm not sure how to combat them 100% of the time.

I suppose you should practice your decapitations with the pistol/knife/primary weapon. After playing around last night it seems that their heads come off rather easily now. Then again, I'm using the chainsaw so it's probably that. I've done it before with the combat knife, however.
