But the debate most certainly evolves around what German media and politics call "killer games" and usually that word is a synonym for first person shooters + everything else where people are shot and includes especially the softer type of games in that genre like Counterstrike. Games where virtual violence is used to achieve a certain objective not games where violence itself is the goal.
This is true, the word "Killer games" does not just cover the fringe stuff like Manhunt, in the minds of the average non-gamer, whom this kind of legislation tries to appease, the term "Killer game" is any and all games where people die as a result of violence, it's any and all FPS and TPS games, and more.
This is what the media tells people FPS games are, games where the player just goes around and murders anyone he wants to, usually followed by a picture or short clip where you see someone getting shot by the player (but without any mention of the games storyline or why the player is asked to take up arms), and this is passed off as beeing what all FPS games are.
