Two Issues runining this otherwise incredible game

Firstly i have an issue where during game play, the game seems to kill my computor where my screen then says -no signal- so the computer has to be restarted

this fix seemed to fix the issue, but everything is so blurry it just isnt playable! any other ideas?

other issue is my ping will not drop under 200/300 even when on any other game its fine, and its been like this for 3 days on EVERY server.

The -no signal- might be due to the game attempting to run a refreshrate your monitor does not support. You can set the refreshrate in the killingfloor.ini. Set it to something you know to work on your monitor. E.g. 60 Hz.
EDIT: under [D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice]
set DesiredRefreshRate to 60 if it isn't 60 already and set OverrideDesktopRefreshRate to True.
Then change the renderer back to D3D9 and see if it works now.

Not sure why it's blurry, but if the refreshrate problem is fixed maybe you can use the standard renderer again and maybe that solves your blur problem too then.

ye just tried it, still getting a steady 400 ping. and counterstrike still has its steady 40 ping... :| any other ideas?


Running any torrents or something like that? See, UT2004 has...shaky netcode at best. The reason you can torrent & play Source games with great ping is that Valve really did an amazing job on the Netcode, above and beyond, basically.

Disable any P2P stuff. Also, try connecting without the router entirely.

With that card I see no reason why D3D9 should not work.
Can you try it again and if the monitor shows "-no signal-" again, try alt-tabbing out of the game and see if the monitor gets a signal again then.

If yes, it's definately a problem with the refreshrate of the game!
You can run dxdiag, go to the tab on the far right (something like "More help" in English), click the override button and type in 60.
Try the game again.
(what resolution are you playing at, btw? If it's excessively high try lowering it to 1680*1050 or 1600*1200)

If no, the game really crashes. The log doesn't tell me anything specific so you can try validating the integrity of your game cache through steam. If it still doesn't work, try deleting the killingfloor.ini and then try again.

okay so iput back to DX9, Same problem. Alt tab did nothing i still had looping sound though from the game. no buttone Ald f4, alt tab ctrl alt delete, had any effect still no signal... even though looping sound?

Ping seems to be okay now (and i always want on low ping servers)

validated integrity cache yesterday 5 times, and deleted kf.ini twice, no change

resolution only at 1280x768
